View Full Version : 1st Thing you do when you buy a new car..

As the title says.. When you go and buy a new car, what is the 1st thing you do when you get it home.. Clean it, check under the seats?
1st thing I do, is take the seats out, and give them a good clean, and the carpets underneath a good clean, and steal any money which was left.. Fit my CD player, and move my little bag of tools, jump leads and whatnot into the car, and remove the normal crappy wheel spanner.. Then try and hunt down a wheel the same as the car's for a spare..

Wouldn't buy it if it's not tip top clean. If the owner can't be fucked to proper clean it before selling then what does that say about how it's looked after..

Take it to halfords for some bling. Pink dice, seat covers, steering wheel cover and a phone holder. Then get a big mac and what ever she wants.

Read whats wrong with it on its local forum, then go and test it see if it lives up to it's name, like the airbags dont deploy when you crash - Saxo
CrouchyM
5th September 2012, 19:18
Yeah so if you buy a saxo you crash it to test the airbags work, just to be safe.

Well yeah, my last saxo i did crash it, a few times, mostly hitting a fox at 100mph on a runway, and actually totalling it.
No airbag either time...
There for, if im to crash again, i know that it's gonna hurt a fuck loads more cos saxo airbags rarely deploy

Usually clean it,hoover it & buy a new set of car mats. Then wait for faults to appear as they always do.

Airbags generally hurt you more in the majority of crashes.. Then if you didn't Have one
They are only there for the small chance you end up in a very serious crash in which they may benefit you
I've been hit by an airbag.. It fucking hurts
I know several ppl who've had broken noses and serious facial burns from airbags... As well as someone who wrists were slit by the console on the wheel when one went off in a petrol station when he was holding the steering wheel

Over the first week or two I like to have a proper clean inside and move all my stuff from my old boot to the new cars boot (work shoes and stuff). Once the weathers good enough I'll have a proper detail. On the car I've just bought I've had in 2 weeks, a new battery, 4 new tyres, full geometry setup, 2 tanks of fuel and soon will be a full service (every fluid) then start on the corrosion and get that how I want it, then onto modifying.

First thing I did when I got my current car was fill it with petrol, picked up the girlfriend at that time and went for a drive...
I then convinced her to christen it and had to give the fucker a clean the next day as she got handprints on the back windows!!
Normally just go for a nice long drive, cars I buy are freshly valeted anyway so I just want to get out in it!
Rogue_Shadow
5th September 2012, 20:26
Take a photo of the mileage reading :y:
" Aww Remember when you first got your car, look how miles you've done " :A:
Then a good clean, followed by a damn long drive to show it off :D

I never thrash a new car until I've serviced it. Snapped cam belt and bent valves taught me not to!
I clean the car, check all the belts, stick it on a diagnostic machine, auto finnesse air freshner then service it.

Usually, drive it.
Seriously though I usually take it for a drive it's always a saturday when I get a new car lol. Then I'll show my pals and then on the sunday I'll hit it with a mega clean because no ones clean is like mine unless I see evidence of previous owner being on DW ect.
I would expect a car to already be fairly clean or I wouldn't buy it. All my cars thus far have been mint examples.
On the monday I'll post up a thousand HQ pictures on OC/ here.
