ive changed the coil pack from a local scrappy and fitted it on but there still is idleing like a bukaroo makeing a chuging noise, but some times it sounds like it is good for a couple of seconds then stops, i changed the standard rockers for roller rockers as mine were all noisey and i wanted the engine to be less noisey put it back togeather and it was doing this, had it in the garage ever sinse as i have been respraying the car myself and this is the last thing to sort out apart for the new windscreen, gotta fix this as there is a bet on with my mate that i cant get it working in 2 weeks, if anybody can help as i would love to have my car working again.:rage: :rage: :rage:

hmm not sure mate maybe the coil pack from the scrappy aint working to well

is it that likely for 2 coils to be broken as i found out the last coil was not sparking on cylinder 4 but the one i bought seems to be sparking on all 4

i have got a brand new coil but if it turns out not to be the coil i cannot take it back after it has been used as the spade termanals would be marcked, what do you think i should do, could it be possibly be anything else lick the ecu or the idle stablisation valve

erm this may or may not help. but mines was doing the same thing and i put a load of red-x in with the petrol a couple of times and it sorted the problem.

hope that helps.

i know what i did do before it started doing this i loosened the head and retightened it again as my head was leaking and it stopped it and a few weeks later i changed the normal rokers for roller rockers which really keeps the tappet noise down and helps higher up the revs but i did not change the head gasket again but i don’t know if that would the problem as the head was never taken off the car or moved so i just don’t know, and all the plugs, ht's and coil have been changed + a cannot drive the car as it barley idles

I had exactly the same problem - changed the coil pack, still chugged like a tractor. It was one of the fuel injectors in the end!

my vts does this on idle. and then allof a sudden it will drop to about 400rpm then pick up again. and it will do that every say 30 second or so. its so annoying! car works fine but its just the chugging!

i just whant to know what is going to be most likley to be my problem ive narrowed it down to 3 things?
head gasket is leaking
blocked injector
faulty wiring/sensors
just if you could tell me hat you think it could be? thanks

You say the problem started after changing over to roller rockers. Did you check the valve clearances afterwards. It could be that you have insufficient or no valve clearances which of course means that the valves will not close fully and you will be losing compression. I'd take the top off and check the clearances mate.

i will check but the engine does run really rich which could be down to one of the sensors or some thing but will check and will get back 2u thanks

as i got the head earler to change the head gasket as it was leaking oil and it may fix the problem, checked the clearances there all fine but i forgot the belt was not on and ive lost the timing as the camshaft is in the wrong place can anybody answer both of my questions as the both need fixing, thanks

+ does anybody know if there is such a sensor where by it tells the ecu what stage the engine is at for example what time it needs to spark so it can do it at the correct time, as this would account for the engine running to rich and sparking at the incorrect time, making the engine idle like it does and it smoothes out at higher revs, it was previously running rich before i touched the engine but got progressively worse in time up to the stage where you put the clean spark plug in to the car take it out 30 seconds later and it is totally black, please heellppp:sad:  :rage:

send a pm tothe username Ratty mate. im not sure if there is a sensor mate. but i know how frustrated you must be. i know i hate it when i aint got the old sax to ride in so pm 'ratty'. he's like the saxo bible mate. he'll know

does it run fine when its cold? and then when the temp. needle starts to move up it gets a bit worse and the higher the temp gauge is the more shitty running it is?

if so i have the same thing and its in gettin a new idle control valve and plugs as we speak, hes just changein the whole inlet manifold over as i had it lying there from the engine change,

Try cleaning the idle control valve and if its not done then get it plugged in to a diagnostics doodaa

This happened to mine! It kept on dropping revs on idle then picking up again. Took it to Citroen and I think they said it was a manifold pressure sensor they said if they touched the two wires together they could make it idle like crazy. Hope this is of some help
