Hi Jamie ive I've a Discovery SII Td5, also owned a 300Tdi Discover and a Freelander Td4. My work used to have Defenders so had the all other than the Range RoverM
The Range Rover is a beast off road don't let its size fool, its got all the toys to get it out of trouble, yonks ago they done a test against a defender in a quarry and out of a score of 40 it got a 40 the defender a 38 due to it getting stuck and had to be pulled out y the. RR :) even the sport is worth its salt off road ...... Compared to the epic fails in its class audi, bmw, audi ect

Big lols there mate - due to its size, weight and serious overhang the RR will always take 2nd place to the Defender in the mucky stuff. Can only assume that it was a PR stunt to boost RR sales. They're lovely cars and I'd be well chuffed to have one but give me a Def any day in the woods/fields/beach/etc. etc.

No early TD5 SII ES-7 excellent car just not so good on a fast bend ... oops

People that know tell me the 200Tdi is THE motor to have in the Defender. The TD5 was great in my Disco (I had a Superchips conversion done which made it so much better).

Did it have ACE fitted?
On another note I keep seeing lowered a couple of lowered 90s round here, on fat road tyres and rims. Think they are a couple of the Galeforce tuned Td5s, seem to be pretty quick

Yes - but to be fair with a blown rear RHS tyre on the outside of a LH bend on French roads there's not much the ACE could've done to help. The tyre blew due to the "side of the tarmac" giving way (nothing under it as the sand had been blown away). Grabbed plenty of wheel to avoid going off the bend and down a deep drop - she eventually gripped and went across the road and into the raised bank on the LHS and flipped onto her roof. Quite exciting really but annoying as I liked the car - bought a Pajero X-Storm to replace her for a while quite a good car that but not a LR

Shame that but at least you walked away. Only so many thing traction aids can deal with!

Exactly - seriously solid the "good old Landies" wouldn't be without one.
The Defenders are great as you can go anywhere in them and they never look out of place. In my job I have the chance to visit some really nice chateaux as well as "normal" houses and the Defender never looks like it shouldn't be there even when parked next to Bentleys and Rollers - don't know why really but considering their insurances probably cost more than my car I'm not complaining

I think its the liners that work loose from the block itself, thus initiating coolant loss. I dont believe the 4l is as prone to it

Can get 7 in a 90 if you have the middle seat in and 10 in a 110 with the middle seat.

Defo wasn't a pr stunt dude, LRM or LRO independant test! I'm not disputing the defender aint the king of off road, it is by 1,000,000 miles better than anything jap that's for sure.
Oh right the chrome trim threw me lol that's what I've got. 7 seat ES with complimentary leaking sunroof lol
