Morning All,
The F1 circus heads to Italy this weekend for the 2012 F1 Italian Grand Prix from the Monza Circuit.
One of the longest standing race's on the calender, its bin on the calender regulary since 1950, only in 1980 was there not a race here.
A good track for Ferrari as you would imagine been they're home race, they have won 5 of the last 10 races 3 of those wins coming from pole. Its also a good track for Ferrari and Mercedes powered cars with only Vettel last year and Montoya in 2001 winning with cars powered with Renault and BMW.
Seen some good races at this circuit over the past few seasons, hope that Button can carry on his form from the last race, will be an interesting race think it will be between the Mcalrens and Alosno for the win. Could possible be a race where the Mercedes run well and with speculation over his future would imagine Schumacher will want to put a good result in.
Whats your thoughts ?
Thought I'd change the poll this weekend to something a bit different, theres been a lot of speculation over the week that Hamilton will be leaving Mclaren for Mercedes next season, do you think he will stay or go ?
Personally think it would be good for both parties if he did go to Mercedes but I think he'll probably end up staying.

I think Hamilton will stay, with the spot at Mercedes up for grabs next season I would like Perez to have it
Hes proved himself to be a fantastic driver this year and with a good team he'll be on track for a few podiums

Thought Hamilton was already contracted to 2013 anyway??
If not, I don't think he'll jump ship. The McLaren is a far better car and he has one of, if not THE best technical team behind him already
As for results this weekend, I'd quite like to see Hamilton back in the points, Raikky up there as well, and obviously Button ftw
Not seen any of the practice running yet, but I'd be surprised if Button reverts back to a high downforce setup, given his recent tyre issues

Every season the cars change though, like braun they dominated with JB for one year. You never know with F1.

The reason brawn had such a good year was because of the massive rule change and the fact the car had been in development in he Honda days.
Since then Mercedes have really failed to impress.
Look at the last few seasons and the same Ferrari, red bull, Mclaren and renault(lotus) battles have been there.

McLaren 1st and 2nd this will be interesting, who will win that battle? More importantly are they doing a 1 stop and whos going to stop first?
Very disappointed with Alonso 10th is shocking he had 1.24 in q2
I was so impressed by Paul Di resta 4 th good lad get stuck in
Hopefully he'll hold his own today but he does had a gearbox penalty

It's setup for an interesting race especially the 1st corner should both Mclarens get away well, shame di resta has his 5 place penalty would have been good for him an force India to be up at the front, wouldn't rule a fight back from Alonso. What did everyone think of the towing tactic Ferrari used in qually ? Thought it was very clever to be honest.
I wouldn't see Perez moving to Mercedes he's part of the Ferrari young driver programme and I think he'll be in there in a couple of seasons.

Only watched the BBC highlights and I'm glad I 'only' did - it was a feckin' boring race with a shite result IMO - I cannot stand Hamilton. Worst race of the season by a long way, but a sterling drive from Perez - definitely man of the race for me.
Pretty sure it's a done deal he'll be driving a red car next year...

Thoroughly enjoyed this race! Shame Button retired. Would have loved to see a Mclaren 1,2.
As for Perez... What a legend!

I'm a Webber fan so no surprises that I didn't think it was the best race of the year but I just didn't find any part of the race particularly good - it was the highlights on the Beeb so that might have something to do with it.
As much as I hate to say it, I think Alonso might have this one in the bag, but that said, he's wrestled a fairly average car at the start of the season to where it really shouldn't be - he'll deserve if it he does win.
I think alot hinges on what Schumacher does next year, but if he goes, I can see either of the Force India drivers in there tbh...

Ahh explains it then, he was unlucky tbh but Redbull haven't looked strong all weekend.
I watched it on both Sky and BBC isn't the same only watching highlights as watching it live but they didn't miss to much out don't think.

Heh yeah - if he didn't have bad luck he wouldn't have any at all tbh. Got to agree that Red Bull haven't been anywhere near the front in any of the sessions - Monza simply doesn't suit that car. Obviously both Vettel and Webber have slipped down the drivers championship but I've been too pissed off to look really - Christ knows what's happening with the constructors though.
I think if they win it again this year, they'll be thinking about calling it a day in F1 in the next few years - they'll have achieved everything they can (and need to) for the brand at the end of the day...

ha jp thats awsome, must have been good to watch it on that.
Very good race, just watched it on IPlayer, dominant dispaly from Hamilton as mush as I hate to say it, lot of big retirements with Button, Vettel and Webber all dropping out. Epic drive from Perez, how are the Saubers able to go so long into the race and not ruin they're tyres.
