Does anyone else love the 45p a mile fuel allowence for doing work milage?
Tomorrow i have to drive from leeds to london then back to leeds stopping at Birmingham on the way back, roughly £200 just in fuel.
Best thing is im not doing any real work, have nothing else planned and not too fussed about the drive.
Anyone else use their own car for things such as this? are you bothered about adding up the mileage/wear and tear cost or do you see it as an easy buck?

Easy money in in a saxo tbh. I used to try and get the silly driving jobs at my old job. Sit on my arse doing what I love most, driving my car. Getting paid hourly and getting my fuel plus some extra tax free money. Second only to being paid to take a shit tbh.

Aye, love it. Just claimed for about 380 miles the other day, 2 return trips from Middlesbrough to Huddersfield and a bit of driving in between... Gotta love it.

im not going to be doing it in the saxo using the daily 50mpg so even happier days, albeit not as fun, but will be more comfortable.

After fuel I make about 29p a mile
I don't really do a lot of work miles, but when I do I spend the mileage money on jazz mags and have a big wank

I do it almost everyday. All our site work is done in our private cars. Bonus is you get an average of £300 a month tax free on top of salary. However it does hammer the car. It's always filthy and full of work stuff and mileage how up rather too quickly so I have to change cars quite regularly

I've got a Fuel card so I don't pay for fuel anyway.
First time in nearly 4 years I've ever filled the fuel tank up to the brim.

Yeah i get 45p per mile.
Time i add the cost of business insurance, extra mileage on the car, tyre and other wear I doubt I make much money on it.

Too right!
Filled up the van the other day, £112.
Rather suck dick than pay for it myself.
Only problem with the Isle of Man and fuel, is the fact you use it so quickly..Constantly changing gear, going up hill, stopping etc.
Full tank over here in the Discovery is about 200miles, when i was in the Disco over accross a few weeks ago I got about 400 to the tank.

Guys sorry for being an absolute retard but can someone help me.
I'm PAYE for a construction company but drive my own car too and from work. Does that make me entitled to this 45p a mile shizznit or not?
What I mean is, do they have any grounds to refuse paying me it or to pay me less?
Atm I get payed £10 a day, and do 80 miles a day(average), so I'm currently being well and truely shafted. But should I technically be entitled to the 45p? Thanks.

There is no law saying they have to give you anything towards your cost of travel. You might have something in your contact (go check ;)) but its likely what you're getting is as good as it gets.
Some companies give you an allowance when your traveling outside your normal place of work (ie, a fixed site you normally travel to daily, but today you're going to a meeting at another office). It's very very rare for a company to pay fuel costs for travelling to your normal place of work, unless that place of work is constantly changing, such as a road worker or something.

Ah I see, but my place of work does constantly change as my company is house insurance based so were constantly going to different houses. I looked on the HMRC and Directgov site's but couldn't find anything relating too it.
Probably because as you say - I'm not entitled to anything. Thanks for the info.

If your role requires you to go to other sites/places regularly I'd be surprised if there wasn't something in your contact to cover this travel and mileage tbh. I've worked for a few different companies (some v small, <20 staff, others >4000 staff) and they all have SOME kind of policy. :)
