I am applying for a new job (I have been in my job for 10 years now and feel it's time to use my newly awarded degree to my advantage) as a good job with the NHS has arisen and the future development potential is very appealing.

Now this may seem like an obvious question but having not written a CV for 10 years, what type of things should I / shouldn't I include in the hobbies and interests as well as the personal statement (I don't want to come across as big headed).

Your helpful replies (I hope) will be much appreciated.

dont put your date of birth.

Everything else, tbh mate, just sell yourself. Without rambling too much. Write catchy sentences that are informative but not boring so you keep the person interested.

Bear in mind, they usually say in most cases, if the first couple of sentences are of no interest, your cv will go in the bin.

Think, who am I, what I've previously done and what I aim to do. Condense it, then sell yourself.

Then you can, by all means, add hobbies, interests etc at the bottom. Somewhere in the middle add your qualifications etc., as you say, without being OTT.

My cv took hours and hours to get right then a covering letter, i thought it was great following numbers of guides books and examples. Took it to careers people at uni had them check it over and a number of mistakes were spotted and a couple of things to add. Go into your uni mate ask them to check it they spot everything!
