normally 25 but there might be a few out there. Best to trawl through their T&C's. Try the major players as their T&C's tend to be more generic in some aspects like this, rather then edited to hell and back to save every penny of a premium as profit.

Industry norm is aged 25 or over.
Why do you need DOC cover? It is only really for emergency use, although the definition of that is in itself is a grey area.

As said above, you may struggle to find any.
I think a few companies did it some years back but I guess they got burned after Mr 17 year old new driver wrapped his dads new Beemer round a tree and they realised the true cost of allowing inexperienced drivers insurance on higher powered, more expensive cars.

Yes indeed, we (Sky) used to offer it for under 25 year olds but it was abused and therefore removed.

I hope all you DOC hopefuls know that fully comp doesnt mean you can drive DOC and I hope if you do have it that the other vehicle needs to have insurance and not be a hire car or a car owned by you.

That would be good if it was accurate. ;)
Check your policy - often the other vehicle doesn't need it's own policy. Some do of course, but not all.

I would say 99% of them do. My fiancee is a claims handler and has dealt with numerous repudiations where people assumed cover in force despite the car being uninsured. Dont forget continuous insurance enforcement. If that car is taxed it has to be continuously insured else this information is flagged up on the data base leading to fines

Sound advice from Shannon, I see many reports of people picking up IN10's after assuming they have cover in place.

I had a friend.. Had a supercharged 182 Clio in his dads name.. Then bought a 1 litre corsa, insured it with Quinn Direct when they offered to cover other cars TPFT, and was driving the supercharged as his daily..

Awesome until your mate inevitably stacks the clio and the insurance company tell said friend/daddy to do one. No car, no no-claims for friend or daddy. :(
All round a bad idea that. Which is a shame - as I've driven a few lovely cars with my DOV cover ;)

It is stupid to run your daily on that basis.. I had DOV with one of my early insurances, which let me drive a few cars, but made work and stuff easier, because if my boss needed something, jump in his range rover, and go and get what he needed, rather than take my own car and use my own fuel..
But id always be on edge if i was driving all the time with that sort of cover!
Didn't help that said Clio was supercharged, lowered, had 1 bucket seat, and the numberplate said STU, his dad is called Mike..

Yes, and what happened to that particular insurer? They went bust.

For now, its a marketing gimick to try and get more business when the competition is increasing.
Once they realise the true cost of an idea like this, they will soon change their minds.

Not really a marketing gimmick its not widely advertised as most of it is in the fine print and T&C which mostly gets overlooked.
Co-op are a big company I'm sure they realise what they are doing, Adiran Flux have been doing it for years now, they have not changed their minds :detective:

Surely they would have realised by now, they have allowed this since I started driving nearly 5 years ago. Don't think it's going anywhere any time soon.
