Hey, ive recently put a 1.6vtr engine into my 1.1 and have swapped the clocks over so the engines mileage can be displayed, on doing so all the petrol, speedo, rev counter all work..... but the temperature one doesnt. ive been told its because the 1.1 didnt have one just a light that came when its was too hot, can i get round this in any way... ie aftermarket temp sensor ? if so what is the temperature gauge displaying, the temperature of water, oil or something different ?

Right is your mileage digital display or old style?

i know when i put the new rad in i had to take the little blue temp sensor out as the vtr loom did no have the connection so i had to blank it off, can i just run a temp sensor of this if i re-install it ?

Right you need a vtr set of instrument clusters, then go to mileage correction specialist & get the mileage corrected.Otherwise you`ll be showing an incorrect mileage.

Edit:ryanmt on here does the correction for the clocks(pretty sure)

I know what your saying but unless you get a set of vtr clocks then the temp gauge won`t work because of your current gauge.Installing a vtr cluster then the mileage won`t read correct, get my drift lol?:y::drink:

I think hes put the coresponding clocks in to the engine... And iirc the one for the dash is in the radiator but the light is run off the green one in the thermostat housing... Have you got any spare connectors on the vtr loom?

The only other way to do it is to find the pin-out on the ecu then run a wire to the dash.:y:

yes, vtr clocks with the vtr engine showing the correct milage. and the temp sensor is the one just to the right of the rocker cover ? can i bypass this with an aftermarket one ?

the 1.1 loom had a spare connector below the temp sensor but with putting the vtr loom in its no longer there. what does the gauge on the dash show the temperature of ? the engine coolant temp ?
