Bolt it back into the strut and use the strut to pull it out.

A hammer wouldnt have a touch on pulling on the strut, dont just be gentle when pulling on it, push it back and use the strut as though its a slide hammer, man up :p

Put the steering dead straight and take it out of gear if it is, but as Danny said man up and pull it shouldnt be stuck as its soaked in oil anyway lol

Dont use the hub to pull it out, unless you want 2 knackered boots and a wrecked inner joint.
Might be a broken diff.

If that method knackers both boots then they need replacing anyway as they are at a far greater angle and length when on full lock.
Also the joints can take a fuck load more abuse than what a bloke can by pulling on the strut lol

no they can't, I guess you have never taken the inboard joint apart to see the mess that can happen when the tripod joint falls apart.

Well yeh I have it aint like a rare occurrence that not many people haven't done.
Well from my experience of alot of driveshafts, they can take hell of a alot more abuse than a bloke pulling his strut to get it out.

pulling the strut with the shaft still attached isnt the best way of getting it out. using one lever bar will put the shaft at an angle and allow it to bite. get two bars one each side and try that

Maybe get a blow torch and heat it up then try again???

Wow that's a relief. I saw the thread title and came in here expecting to see photos of viper hanging out the back of gibbo. Phew.
On a serious note, when you twist the shaft, is there any play in it? I'm wondering if the diff is ok...

and make the metal expand so it tightens against the bearings..

If you're going to get a blow torch out, don't heat the shaft up whatever you do. Heat expands metal, so if you're going to heat anything up make it the bell housing. Not that I would advise doing that either...
