Don't burn me,
I've done no research!
Would a J Reg MK2 Golf GTI be classed as classical?
For insurance, classical insurance******
Basically I've pretty much got one and I was just wondering if it was or not.
It's unlikely to be my daily but just curious.
One like this;

25 years or older qualify for classic insurance. Or could be 20. So j reg is what 1991. So 21 years old so yes it could be. Some insurers are 20 others are 25. Some don't allow you to have classic insurance unless it is a second car.

Some insurers just have a database of what they class as a "classic". I'm pretty sure that with some insurers, that would be a classic.

Yep, my old one was insured with footman James on a classic policy. It was a 1991 G reg.

My old MK2 Golf GTi was on a classic insurance policy. Was only a 1.8 8v but still so much fun to drive! Was a G reg

The one I'm getting is an 8v 5d.
Been in the family for over 15yrs :) 3 owners since new,
Mum bought it from a garage & sold it to her bf so I know this car very well.
Thinking 1.8T
Minimal bay
BBS RS - RM

Get it OEM and concourse and keep it that way... Would be a shame to turn a car with decent history in to just another "boy racer" car...

Thing is, it's an 8V 5d.
It will be uber clean and the install will be very neat. Wheels are close to factory too.
It's tatty atm due to it not being used for nearly 3 yrs!
I'll have a think but I'm really feeling a 1.8T shoe horned in lol
