Been using texaco and Esso petrol since i can remember and my car has been runing like S***, Juddering when crusng, dodgy idle, icv always need cleaning, slight engine pinking and EML (due to icv) So for some reason i decided to fill up on Shell unleaded v power. been using it for the last 2 weeks and ever since my car has been running so smooth, no EML, no juddering or pinking. So is it coincidence or is all other fuel dodgy but shell? :S

dodgy fuel maybe, but usually esso and texaco are fine. Vpower is good stuff but will be just placebo effect on a 1.1, its a waste of your money

i know that its a waste in a 1.1. mite go back to try texaco fuel again see if i get problems again then i know for sure to stick with shell

Why not try just regular shell?

I get an extra 30 miles to a tank using shell fuel saver compared to asda fuel (which my car was mapped with)....

Waste of money using v power unless you're car is mapped for it

I can't get 300 miles per tank on regular 95.

V-power will give me 350 miles on a motorway.

Funny that, ive had 330 miles to regular 95 ron shell fuel using mainly motorways/dual carriageways..

But you're in a standard car? Whereas mine has exhaust/induction & kpro.. :-/

I get more miles from higher octane fuel too.

I run my 182 on tesco 99 or shell vpower, all the specialists say it'll run just as well on 95 but I also get more miles from vpower and the idle is less lumpy when cold, which the F4R is known for. Plus they "recommend" 98 ron.
However back on topic - 1.1, use the cheapest 95

Yeah I know!

But for the extra £3-£4 per fill I'd rather use the V-Power.

Edit: that's without changing my driving style between fuels, I.e, 80 on m-way, and some use of all of the revs on a few occasions through the tank.

use the cheapest petrol just because its a 1.1???

he has just told us all his problems have been cured using a better petrol, okay its not going to be doing 10 second quarters and ripping the engine from the bay, but its going to drive better so its all good imo...

Whats wrong with using the cheapest 95 from a reputable brand? there is nothing wrong with texaco or esso's 95 in a 1.1

never said there was, i use bp/esso as they are my local ones never no issues..

but if using v power has cured his car id stick with the devil you know, going back to anothr may just cause more problems.

2 main garages I use are Morrison's and Texaco. 95% of the time i get an extra 2 or 3 mpg out of texaco fuel so pay the extra penny a litre!
