you're aware that cleaning your car frequently doesn't constitute a medical condition presumably?

So you have a passion for cleaning the car. A far cry from an OCD isn't it...

Viper has a spelling OCD.
My car gets washed on a weekend if it doesn't rain, unfortunately I live in Wales so that around 4 weekends a year.

I clean my car every week without fail. I just like a clean car, I wouldn't say I have an obsession over it.

I'm the same! No matter what I try I can't stop either. Defiantly a cause for OCD.

I sometimes make straight lines, like I'll line up the beer coaster with the table and centralise my pint on the coaster, not really ocd, just idle hands.

roughly 12 times, or exactly 12 times? roughly 12 isn't ocd. Being aware you've only washed them 11 times and frantically searching for a sink at 23:55 to get the last wash of the day in IS ocd ;)

I have to chew my food a certain amount of times on each side of my mouth before I can swallow it.
I can only open a door with my right hand as well.

So if I chop off your right hand you'll get stuck in rooms?

I have to shower every night before I go to bed or I cant sleep and I'm fully conscious that I haven't, is that an OCD?
I have to take a drink to bed with me, if I dont then I think I cant sleep, then as a result I cant sleep and I always get a dry throat without fail unless I have a drink next to me, even if I dont drink it.

I think its because no one actually has an OCD on saxp so we all just post things which are part of our routine lol

Some people (here) do. Threads like this are interesting because it shows where people believe their own definition of "normal behavior" ends and "obsessive" starts.
Too much focus is put on the obsessive factor and not enough on the compulsive in discussions like this. You might wash your car every day. Some might say it's an obsession. But if for some reason you didn't wash it one day, you probably would still be able to continue your day "out of sequence".
Those suffering an acute compulsive disorder simply cannot stop themselves from performing the action, and if they are forced to stop, often the consequences are dire. Some simply cannot function "out of sequence" at all.
There's a big difference between doing something a lot, and doing something involuntarily, often without knowing yourself you're doing it, at the potential detriment to something else.

I have lots of OCD type ticks, I won't list them all but there are a lot, however despite this I still do not class myself as haveing OCD as I feel this phrase is massively over used and misused.

I have OCD, i cant resist brushing my teeth 3 times a day.. trololol its called self hygiene
In all seriousness, i have a mate who has a major cleaning OCD, comes home from a night out drinking, and will wipe all the widow cills, mop the kitchen floor, and clean all the work tops, "just in case dust has settled" Then he will get up at 8AM and clean up again, spends at least 2 hours a day cleaning certain parts of his house!

I wash my car at least once a week, sometimes more.
Hardly OCD though, I just like it to look clean.

When we go to his before a night out, he is constantly picking your drink up, wiping the bottom of your glass, and then the work top.. Like every 5 minutes, goes round doing it!
When the taxi comes, and everyone necks up, he washes the glasses, dries them, and puts them away.. Then he has to set all the blinds in the house exactly the same!

I have some tendancies, so does my mother,
Neithers of us are bad, although she is worse then I am (because of age)
However things I do generally come in phases and can bother me for months at a time then dissappear all together
For example, checking the door is locked several times a night, even when I know it's locked lol

I still haven't seen anything OCD other than the lad who cleans when he gets in from a night out. I feel a bit sorry for people who genuinely have it and it affects theirs life.
I don't have any at all. I like to have a shit before work, and if I don't need one I'll still attempt one, just in case. That's about as OCD as I get.
I'm the same with water beside my bed though. I get a dry throat if its not there and hardly touch it when it is.

He has been offered more times than i can count, to take a girl home from town and give her a good thrashing, and he turns em down.. Genuinely think its because he doesn't want to put his bed out of place..

God knows if this is an OCD, or I just like order. But everything has to be straight, parallel or at perfect right angles with one another. For example if I see a remote control on the arm of a sofa at my girlfriends house at a crooked angle, it will constantly bug me until it's straight with the arm of the sofa. My shoes can't be slung down on the floor they have to be perfectly next to one another heel toe, beautifully inline. But the odd thing is, is my room is a mess.

But seriously I have an annoying thing I do. Not an OCD but i do it without thinking and it annoys me.
If I'm watching a film, or observing something. I'll say in my head exactly what I see or what somebody just said.
So take a porno for example. I'll be watching it but at the same time I'll be saying "She's had anal sex before" or "She's got blonde hair" or "she can squirt...giggidy".
That's fucking annoying as you end up losing interest and have to walk away on a half job.
I've done it for as long as I can remember, sometimes it goes away and sometimes I do it for months on end. (the talking thing not watching anal squirt porn).
