View Full Version : How much is your insurance?

Ross
27th September 2012, 12:02
Bet you all sighed when you saw the thread title. :D Fear not, it's not a generic 19 year old asking about a VTR. It's poll time ;)

Please vote in the poll above. You don't have to post in the thread (but I don't care either way, so banter is fine :p)

Doesn't matter what your age or other insurance affecting circumstances are, I'm just interested in the ANNUAL premium. I don't care about what you drive, or where you live. Just tell me the price ;)

If you're on a 10 month accelerator (more fool you) take your 10 month "annual" price, divide by 10, then times by 12 to get the answer I want.

If you don't pay annually, please take your monthly premium and times by 12 for the poll figure above!

Cheers fellas!

Seems to go up every year though until I shop around and then manage to get it slightly cheaper or exactly what I paid the year before.

I did it for a few years. It cost me around £10-£15 on top of my annual premium. I achieved 3yrs NCB 6 months earlier than it would have taken. Saves you a fair whack in the long run.

Oh, and I can use mine with any company. As I know some are non-transferable.

Fully comp on my Celica, been driving for just under 2 years with 3 years no claims is just over £1300. Before some asks, got 1.5 years while learning to drive then passed my test half way through my 2nd policy. It didn't take me that long to learn, I just didnt do much lessons but had the car insured just incase some fucker smashed it/stole it!

After seeing some of the prices on here for the cars you run it annoys me becuase mine is still quite high. Not that I cant afford it, I just wish I had more money to run a faster car and not have to worry about the MPG :n:

As for the price of Vipers S15, isnt that to do with something like they are more expensive to repair if you smash them up, with parts being more expensive than the average car? Correct me if im wrong.

Ross
29th September 2012, 15:23
why do people pay over a grand to insure a shitty saxo, it's fucking retarded.

Because the average cost of getting a first time driver on the road is over £8k. A huge part of that is the insurance costs - which is high because of the huge risk young drivers pose on the roads to themselves and others. It's not just Saxos, they can't get insured on much else for cheaper...

You can always drive a (tax exempt) tractor (http://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/news/9049713.Now_it___s_tractor_power_for_Chris/) and pay just £59 for insurance for the year if you wanted cheap motoring :)

I'm in a bit of an odd situation in that I lost my license in December last year for medical reasons so the best thing I could do was run through my details on a comparison site. Probably not the most accurate way of doing things, but I'm not looking to get insurance until December anyway, so I'm not too bothered.

My quote was £555.44 on the Quiksilver, annual mileage of 8k, no convictions, SDPC usage, no mods to declare, full license held for over 1 year (very nearly two until I lost it) and an occupation of an Insurance Adviser.

Pretty happy with that tbh :y:

So you have 2x 6 years NCB or are you using the same NCB on both vehicles illegally? ;)

He never said anything about the NCB on the XSI.

All those people paying over £2,500 ish are all driving the wrong car! Saxos have a terrible claim history, why would you want one as a first car? :panic:

You think a 24 year old is driving a modified xsi for <£300 without any NCB? ;)

exactly this, just can't understand it.

I would only pay over a £2500 insurance (even a lot less than that) if I was insuring something super valuable, let alone a 500 quid saxo.

Same view as me. I was prepared to pay a fair bit for the S15. Still wouldn't have gone over £2,500 though!

Oh I'm 24 so will drop again a little bit next year woop then I'll be getting my new VTS on the road :)

how the flying fudge do you pay £98 on a 106 1.5 at the age of 24.

I'm 24 with an extra year of no claims than you in the lowest postcode area and they are having my pants down in a similar shite car.

The fact hes in one of the worst parts of Bolton doesn't help lol

Saxos and 106s are so much to insure :/

I'm 20 been driving for 3 years, 1 claim, 2 years NCB since my crash and I'm paying £1500 on my VTR. I'm selling it when this year has finished and buying something else cheaper to insure
