I doudt you could get it towed home claiming its broke down, has it got tax and mot ? Put trailer rental into google sure they'll be something near you.

aslong as you have the right cover, I was asking my RAC man about this the other day, and he said if I had just breakdown cover and he couldnt fix the car it would be nearest garage only, but because I had the return to home regardless of where i was he would take it home...

or does anyone know anyone near skelmersdale that has a trailer to borrow or rent?
I'm sure there's a company near Skelmersdale that does this sort of thing, I remember my dad having to sort something for his mate once...

My mother used her aa card to sort out my brother's car once, got it on a flatbed and brough back home after it couldn't be fixed on site. As long as you have the right cover AND the car is legit you should be good

Got AA relay? Sorted.
Go there, phone AA. Tell them you're a mechanic yourself, and know the diff has just shit itself. You don't want to ruin the box any more. It's undrivable. Tell them you need recovery to your house where you can repair it.
They turn up, and relay you home. 150 miles will probably require at least one if not two change overs unless you get a flatbed who travel longer distances.
Sorted.

no tax will be a problem. AA check for that. Meh. Looks like you're getting a trailer.

Theirs a place called fletchers trailers near Oldham. Give them a bell and they'll sort you one out. Their cheap and decent trailers.

I've never rented a trailer or hired someone to deliver a car via a flat bed, so was more of a question really.
I wouldn't be able to hire a trailer as I've no car to pull it and no licence for that either!

I've used them as well. Great service and for the money, you can't argue really!
Although, the quality and type of vehicle you get differs greatly. I used an operator in Bradford and got a great VW unit that was clean, tidy, powerfully enough and had a shallow bed on it for lowered cars but then used a guy in Manchester who had an old clapped out transit that ripped the bottom of my car to pieces as it was too steep! Pictures of both can be seen in my progress thread.

Ive used 4, Bradford, Leeds, Birmingham and i think it was Lemington. All were pretty good. Bloke in Brum was a right bellend though.

My mates done this a few times before. Recovered the car 150miles ish also. There was something up with it, cant remember what and they knew the sort of car very well so they unplugged something, cant remember what so that the recovery man couldn't fix it or whatever on the spot nd ended up taking it home, took them 4 hours to get home tho lol
