Hi guys,
has anyone bought one of these yet?
The guy sounds like he knows what he's taking about, plus i like how it's easier to fit. Good price aswell.

I've got one of these!
Like he says in the listing, dead easy to fit with the ends being flat bar, takes you longer to dig your tools out and jack the car up.
Good eBayer also

That does look pretty awesome, however at over 3 x the price it should do! Considering my cars only worth six of those braces i'll stick to the cheaper one.
Good to hear the ebay one fits well and positive reviews. Sounds a load easier to fit than OMP!

dont like the idea that hes jigging each one to his car. thats probs got chassy flex being up on stands.
tomnelson
5th October 2012, 21:00
He doesn't jig it to his car. He makes it and checks it fits his car. Plus all cars will have flex on axle stands so wouldn't make a difference :) do they actually make your car feel better ?

The satchell ones that Welshpug has posted up are by far the best lower brace on the market today. They will provide much improved bracing over any of the alternatives that are on the market currently.

i put a sparco one on mine recently but had issues with clearing my miltek manifold. Anybody had any problems with any other lower braces such as the OMP etc. There was a small gap between the brace and manifold with my sparco but whilst being driven it would sound terrible.

The guy on ebay has a 106 turbo and he has some pics of the brace on with a pretty large bore system and it clears it. To be honest though on my c2 my supersprint is very close to the front brace, but all it took was a piece of samco hose between the two and you don't get any knocking.

just a burning smell instead. Sorted ;)

I don't fancy putting something to stop it hitting the brace. I'd prefer it to no touch at all. I saw the pics on eBay and my brace was not as close as his is to his manifold and mine was a pain in the arse when in motion.

I'm not sure how well samco hose works, but I have done the exact same thing, except with an exhaust hanger. Works well and is my preferred 'quick fix' as opposed to crushing a dent in the brace like some do.

Yea its fine, alright it's not perfect but as Marty says better than battering something! and nope no burning smell! Mines been there for years. If your engines moving enough for your manifold to smack the brace even with a decent bit of clearance get some better engine mounts ;-)

I'm running group n mounts ;), there's no movement in my engine. It must be the sparco design brace with the low miltek manifold.

my omp used to hit my old manifold a bit and rattle, exhaust wrap helped but I eventually changed the manifold

Good lad! I've got GMC's on my C2 and Vibratechic on the saxo. yea sounds about right, the lower brace on the C2 is as standard, but similar to the miltek my supersprint manifold must just be a low design.

i got top and bottom off a bloke on here, the top is fitted but the bottom sat 1" off the ground when fitted so i decided not to bother as the roads in my town are of dirt track quality , its only dropped 40mm too.
(omp braces i must add)

looks awesome but sits quite high, the omp one doesnt clear my exhaust but thats even higher by the looks of it.
welshpug
13th October 2012, 18:55
its not a big round tube, so it can sit higher.

fitted mine today, so impressed, dead easy to fit and a perfect fit at that! And as my suspension set up is otherwise standard you can genuinely feel an improvement :-)

20th October 2012, 10:28
so basically this guy on ebay is good yeh? i'm wanting one atm and dont know whether to go for the omp or this custom one. probz will get a garage 2 fit it so less labour would be a bonus.
do you defo nt need to do the tracking afta like he says or is it still a gd idea?
GTuff
20th October 2012, 11:40
theres no way i would pay a garage to fit a strut brace jack the car up and diy but sound like you have too much money burning a whole in your pocket hardly hard work to fit one
Jimi137
20th October 2012, 11:45
lol nah im just a bit of a div when it comes 2 this kinda thing plus i dont have a jack or axel stands and nowhere near my house i can do it either :/
thinkin of just gettin a top and bottom omp strut brace pack for £100 off ebay and gettin a m8 to fit it but what about the tracking? will it need 2 be redone with them fitted?
GTuff
20th October 2012, 11:57
i dunno about the tracking to be honest with a top strut i would say no bottom omp ones im not sure how they fix on...
im doin the tracking on mine though as its been lowered all round so will need doin
Jimi137
20th October 2012, 12:04
yeh if i lowered it id have 2 get it done.
thanks for the advice :) any1 got any first hand experience? like fitted the omp ones and whether the tracking had to be done as well? just trying to find out as much info as poss b4 i spend a load of money on them
Gabbastard
20th October 2012, 12:32
you wont need to do the tracking if fitting a lower brace
Jimi137
21st October 2012, 10:28
cool cool thanks for the info - ordered one of those custom ebay ones so lets hope its as gd as every1 says :)

21st October 2012, 21:11
good choice.. seriously though if you have to get someone to fit it make sure you don't get mugged! it is literally 5 mins work, you don't even need to jack up both sides of the car, anymore than a tenner would be a rip off!!
Jimi137
22nd October 2012, 09:53
thanks for the advice :) yeh i'll make sure its a gd price :)
btw probably a stupid question but it is okay just to run with a lower one right? like it wont cause the top 2 start 2 flex more and either damage stuff or ruin the handling?

I ran just a lower OMP brace for 18 months with no issues. Apart from twatting it into the floor every now and again. It will be fine :y:
