Hey, first time posting here. I have a 1.1 Desire with a VT body. Just brought some 16inch Team Dynamic Monza R alloys.

Put them on the motor and it wont move :wall: basically judders

Anyone know if this is a problem of spacers or whether I'm going to need to mod the wheel arches?

Any help appreciated

cheers

Is it lowered if so you will need to mod the wheel arches but it sounds like you need to do this anyway or get some spacers

Nah it's not lowered. But I'm just wondering what size spacers I'll need?

Are the wheels catching like?

check that the wheels aren't catching on the body or the brake calipers. also what profile tyre are on the wheels. for 16" wheels you need a 40profile to avoid any rubbing

will be rubbin the inside of the arches.

wheels to big.

I use a set of 20mm spacers on mine. If the wheel still moves around, just rubs a little, you can probably get away with 10mm.

Cheers for the quick replies people.

Realised that the wherl offset is 38 so yeah I've ordered some 20mm spacers :L

too big for a 1.1, the arches are not deep enough. Also expect your mpg to drop and your rear axle to deal with extra strain because of the spacers, not good.

worse fuel economy by increasing weight, rolling resistance and aerodynamic drag. 16" on a 1.1 is way too much. On the other hand he should have some grip.

Got 15" VTR alloys on at the moment but they are curbed to fuck from previous owner so thats why I brought the 16"s. Probably keep the VTR's on for now and use the Team Dynamics when the weather gets better. But cheers for the advice. Will bear it in mind :y:

that's more like it, you're right about keeping the grubby alloys through the winter.

Why didn't you just use the money you spent on your news ones for a refurb? ? Would of been cheaper probably, depending on how much you paid for the news obviously!

only paid £105 for the new ones with tyres and have ended up buying spacers :L but will probably get them refurbed and possibly spayed gun metal grey when I start me new job :y:
