Dear All.
My daughters 1999 Saxo 1.4 8v auto, went in for it,s M.O.T yesterday she
passed with flying colours.
But with only one advisory;- The P.A.S doesn,t appear to be working
and she advised me that it may be a fuse or a bad electrical connection on the power streering pump. I was wondering if anyone else had any similar
problems like this one ? I can,t seem to find a fuse connected with the power
steering. ?
Secondly, my daughter came to pick her car up today aswell. The car has
been starting and idling on choke very nicely over yesterday and this morning
aswell. However, it " started " ok, but as soon as she started to reverse off
our drive the car stallled and was reluctant to " idle " again, until I had to get
my socket out and speed the idle screw " clockwise " another 180 degrees
before she would " idle " again satisfactorily. I get the feeling that something
else isn,t quite right with this problem but I am hoping that with her running
the car again on a daily basis that it may just settle down ok. But I am at a
loss as to what it could be at the moment. One thing I am thinking may need
to be done, is that although I haven,t moved the two throttle potentiomter
screws, as I know that these need to be " adjusted " electronically to suit the
base idle " adjustment " screw. A few years ago you used to be able to hear
the throttle potentiometer " switching " " on " and " off " again, with a little
" ping " from the throttle potentiometer, that way you knew that they were
set-up correctly.( would I be right in saying this, if anyone understands what
I am on about )
Many thanks, any kind advice would be very gratefully received:y:
Vince.

Try hammering the metal part of the power steering pump (under the front left side of your bumper). Well that fixed it for me, I won't be responsible for any damage.

Dear Stevo.
Firstly, so sorry for my late reply Stevo:oops:
Secondly, Thank-you very very much indeed for your invaulable and very
gratefull help and advice Stevo:hug: I didn,t know about that relay, so when
I next get the car back Stevo, I shall have a " hunt " for it and give it a good
clean up etc etc.
My daughter has had the Saxo back since last Thursday ( so no news, is
good news ) I think at the moment:y:
Plus she will be bringing the car back to me fairly soon, as when she
bought the car that it needed a new seal fitting to the sunroof, as it leaks.
a year later, when I was doing the head job, I tried to open and close the
sunroof with the operating lever, but something inside the sunroof itself, seems to be skipping and broken. So I am in the middle of sealing it all up, so
that it won,t leak like a sieve. ( as it does )
I will keep you posted on how she progress ok Stevo;)
Vince.
