If the Police can get evidence to prove the other party hit your, at a minimum they have left the scene of a accident.
Get everything written / typed out including times you contact the Police, car colour, reg and any distinguishing features.
If the Police cannot find anything / don't pursue it.
You can either:

A: Go through insurance and pay excess and future premiums (You predict this by doing a insurance quote now)

B: Take the repair cost on yourself

If A > B
