Me and My dad do them but you're a little way away for one tbh...Don't do full resprays too often either. No point respraying a whole saxo though. Would cost more than the car is worth.

i beg to differ on some people that re spray, Im having mine done for around about £400 with me doing ALL the prep, there are alot of painters out the looking for the work at the min
But some places you could be looking at up to £1000 +
The guy whos doing mine did a euro saxo on here for around about £200 with the lad doing the prep and buying the paint, and it looked the dogs bollox, catn wait to have mine finished ready for paint

I thought a decent full respray was like 3k in most bodyshops.

£400 to paint a full car and prep? Yeah that's going to look amazing.
Do you actually realise that the price of paint to paint a saxo is around the £250 mark and then he is only making £150 for the labour and to cover his over heads...
I can see your paint work winning best in show:y:.
Also links to said "dogs bollox euro saxo" ??

Not after it to win "best in show" iv seen his work, and its of good quality.
Examples,
Lukes euro saxo on here, i think in the end luke ended up paying him less than £300 to do this, with luke doing a hell of a lot of the prep

Paint cost depends on what sort of paint you paint it in. Just normal 2pk is cheaper than water based paints.
Cost around £150 to do my saxo. And it had around 6 coats on wings and doors (kept flatting after 2 coats cause I wasn't happy with the finish) well using non conventional suction fed with paint designed for hvlp doesn't help.
But back to the point. If you were serious I could have a word with my dad. He is a retired painter. See my thread for the quality of paint out come. And it were done at home and the car was black. Probs the hardest colour to paint.

My engine bay and exterior ran me for about £1,400 and that's an "average" quality job, starting with a bare shell all panels removed, with me supplying brand new wings and bonnet.
You get what you pay for tbh with body work. When the car is back on the road, i'll be looking to spend probably £500+ on a full detail even though the car will never have been driven just to get it looking half decent.
You might get a blow over for a few hundred quid, but don't expect any show wins :) will probably freshen it up tho.

Exactly what ross said. £400 wouldn't even cover the price of the booth time and labour to paint a saxo.
Most places I know around here wont even accept a job for under 1k.

It's a forum you tard. You don't want peoples opinions then don't come on a forum.

£150- £200 including bake time with the booths we have at work that's why when we can we fit 2 cars in with other panels.
Gets annoying when people on here say a "Good Job" when the bloke doing it doesn't even have a booth to bake or pre heat the paint so it cures.

If it was my car I would want the vt kit took off, doors and boot off. But I spose that's why he's doing them cheap. I'm very picky with stuff like that so it would Realy bother me. Maybe your not botherd like that?. At the end of the day its your car so if your happy with it then thats all that matters.

I didn't comment on the quality as I have seen it in person. And don't wish to comment on it.

Im considering having my trackcar resprayed matt or satin black...
Anyone got any idea if this would be a cheaper job than a nice showroom gloss finish?

Depends if you want a track car finish or a decent finish. In the past for track cars I have just scotched the car masked it up sprayed it satin black but it wasn't a nice job but its a track car so it didn't matter.
The process is exactly the same no matter what paint. The only difference is that the paint has no shine and is often a single stage so just 3 coats and you are done. Priming and prep is exactly the same. You will maybe save a hour or so in the booth.

Cheers for the reply.
A trackcar finish would be ok... Currently has faided roof and boot... Various scratches and marks.. So any finish would look better lol
Wouldnt need bonnet doing and current one is cf
Could probally prep myself and its satin black inside anyway so not much masking would be required

Do it yourself mate if your not too bothered on the finish.
Borrow a compressor and spray gun can be got off ebay for £20. and 2 litres of ici turbo matte/satin black and you cant go wrong you have to be a serious numpty to make that stuff run. and will give you a solid hard wearing finish fro about £75.

The proof of the pudding will be what the cars sprayed cheaply will look like in 2 yrs time.

True point, iv bought willsys old lamborghini Yellow saxo, And that i would assume wouldnt have been done cheap, Looked awesome a couple of years ago when i saw it in the flesh, now i own it, Iv found manny floors in the paint thats just happend with age cracks, pealing/ flaking paint etc, shouldnt take to much sorting out but standard paintwork has proven stronger!
The car im having painted isnt going to be of any show standard, its just so its one colour, if it lasts a year or two i dont mind i will have sold it on by then
