Erm so ive searched and everything and cant fin any clear and concise info on what it could be.

Basically, ever since i bought my car ive had a problem thats getting steadily worse. When i Start the car after its been off for a while it will missfire until ive turned the car off and on 3 or 4 times and then it will be completely fine. I alsi have a lumpy idle.

Now, what can this be? ive changed the coil pack and sparks to no avail. But have recently been told my ecu might be fudged.

Any help appreciated.

Wont be ECU, alot of people assume its always the ECU when its not. Sounds like a air/feul matter to me so map sensor lambda sensor etc..

Don`t rule out the voltage regulator on the alternator slowly dying either mate.

got a flashing eml while its missfiring (idle gets stupidly lumpy, lack of power) and then constant the rest of the time (never goes off)

I do not think that stopping and starting the car will be resetting the ECU (I think power needs to be disconnected from it for hours for it to fully reset), so I am not sure that the starting/stopping could be connected to sorting out a fault with the ECU. The fact that there are no lights on the dash would also suggest the ECU is okay.

Hmmm....tricky..!

Sorry...posted too early...so EML does flash on and off during misfires..but doesn't stay on to allow codes to be read?

well yeh i heard that ecu is most likely a constant problem not intermittent but drastically losing my patience with the thing.

clutching at straws. Spose i could just start replacing bit by bit sensor by sensor and hope it works.
