Hi guys ok my insurance is up in December but i pay yearly, Earlier i got 3 points for speeding, if you ask me i wasn't speeding, im not a boy racer its only a 1.1. I was overtaking but whats done is done unfair decision. How much does insurance go up by with 3 points? because ill need to update my information when the renewal comes through.

Need more info tbh. Could be £0 or could be £1000

How old are you? How long driving? What car? Previous points? Any accidents? Etc...

Generally if you're over 21 and have a otherwise clean licence 3 points won't affect you at all. Obviously a string of points previously won't help. I have 6 points currently and it doesn't affect my premium at all, but I'm old. I've also had something like 21 points in my driving career... None have ever affected me as I've always managed to say at 6 or below.

Oh sorry didn't know ok, iv'e just turned 22 its a W reg 1.1 forte saxo (mark 1 engine but with a mark 2 body  can standard like that) I have held a licence since i was 17 and driving since i was 17 too. Accident yes my fault but on renewal i changed insurance company to get a cheaper quote and elephant was the cheapest considering at £1000 so they know about the crash and apart from that 3 point licence which i paid a £60 fine for i have a clean licence always had until then. The fine was earlier this year about may time. Does this help anymore?

Thanks

When I got mine at age 18 for running a red light it went up less than £100 on a furio so doubt it'll be much

so do you have 3 already and this will take you to 6 points total, or are those 3 off, and this is taking you back to 3 again?

if you are going back to 3 points, I don't think it'll do much at all tbf - £25 or £50 or something. 6 points at 22 years old they might question though :)

From what I can gather, he had 0 point till he got the 3 for speeding but hasn't yet told his insurance company?

gotcha. Wont do fuck all then I don't expect. Might be a few quid, but insurance companies generally don't care so much about the first 3 points in my experience, and from what I've seen from others. :)

Hi guys sorry been at work yes i had 0 points up until May when i got my first 3 points for speeding to only have 3 points in my driving career so far. Should i just wait until my renewal in December to update the insurance account as it can be done online now i think, plus you can amend details on renewal too.

Thanks

ain't you suppose to declare points as soon as you get them?

Read the policy notes.

Some say you don't need to notify them until renewal, some say as soon as you get them. All depends on your insurer.

How about, you call your insurance company and ask them.

That's a harsh one....unless you ran a red light on purpose of course?

I had 3 points before I started driving when I took my first years insurance out they said the 3 points for speeding was adding 1k+ then I got another 3 points in my first year and they only added about £50-£100
