Hi guys ok after bad past experience with cheap nasty alarms i want to go for a good brand. However i don't see why you would pay £300 for an alarm. The only brands im aware of is viper, Clifford and toad but all these makes are extortionate prices.

I also would like the remote start function to the alarm too as my previous alarm i wires in (hawk) had this feature but due to its poor design it constantly failed even when wired correctly. Does anyone know of good quality alarms without paying viper, clifford prices?

Thanks

Buy a Clifford and install yourself. You seem handy with the wire cutters. It's easy. I've fitted several, inc remote start. Can get a cat1 spec Clifford with remote start, brand new, for around £150 if you fit it yourself.
