went to hospitall at around 2 in morning after a long drive home from a weekend away with a really bad achey pain in the left hand side of my neck was told it was tonsilitus wich i thought was outrageuose but tyred and work the next day i accepted it and went home with a corse of antibiotics a week later i fell really ill constant headaches and really bad fatuige no strength and my eyes where really reactive to light felt like i needed to wear sunglasses inside.. a few days of this i go to bed and wake up at 3 in morning with a seriouse pain in my forhead wich can only be.described as it felt i was being eaten from inside by a bug or somthing got took into hospital started having really high tempratures and feavers they thought i had meningitus, had to have a sample of my spinal fluid taken wich i tell you is the worst thing ever a 4 inch + needle rammed into your back whislt your awake no pain killers or anesthetic, test cam back fine by this time i was on 8 - 12 drips a day trying to fight my feavers had a nurse constantly monitoring me all night pipes wires everware.. blood tests kept coming back with low white blood cells wich now im thinking cancer.. after a week of this they finally descoverd i had realy bad glandulare feaver.. but because for 2 weeks i was taking antibiotics for tonsilotus and was still working fighting it etc i was makong myself worse.. took me two weeks to get back into a state i could work and 2 months on im only just starting to feel i have the energy to do things i used to... its a horrible experience if you let it get out of hand wouldnt wish it on anyone!! takes up to six months to fully recover im having to have frequent blood tests. go to your doctor asap if you think you have it and get pleanty of sleep, water and vitamina and decent food. i.didnt help myaelf having eating issues

Christ mate, that's one hell of an over-reaction. When I have a cold, I usually just take a couple paracetamol...

They can test for Glandular Fever, did you have blood taken?
Many viruses can mimic glandular fever symptoms as I found out in March. The doctor tested me for it but it came back negative and he couldn'd find anything wrong. I got over it in about a month, whatever it was but I have never been the same since. I developed quite bad acid reflux so I have to take Omeprazole daily and I get quite severe stomach pains every few weeks as well as muscle and joint aches. I have had blood tests, X-Rays, Barium Swallows and an Ultrasound but they can't find anything wrong!!
All that from a stupid Virus!

It sounds like you need to go to House.
Maybe it's Sarcoidosis.

It's fucked up took my girlfriend out of action for a good 2 months.
Nah but the worst of it lasted around 2 months and in total it took like 8 months for her to be properly back to normal.
