My saxo has been reving by its self mainly when stopped at traffic lights also when it decides to rev when driving along normally the car will drive its self or start stuttering/jumping. I have replaced the idle speed valve and also the airbox what was broke but neither have worked what's left me stumped for what the problem is. Also recently my petrol doesn't seem to last as long, Dose anyone have any other ideas what this problem could be?

Not sure if srs

why is that? as that can cause lumpy idle from cold, the ECU gets the reading from it when started and it will not idle very well and go into limp mode. Hence possibly the poor/lumpy idle.

may sound like an odd one but have you had battery disconnected? my vtr kept revving itself, replaced the connectors that clamp round the positive and negative terminals (connection wasnt best) and its been fine since. easy thing to check, so might be worth having a look at that, might be just a cheap fix :y:

im having the exact same symptoms. been trying to solve it for months now. im just in the middle of uploading a vid of it happening. but my internet is going slow and eta is 23 mins.

things i have tried:
1. Cleaned ICV
2. Replaced TPS (throttle position sensor)
3. Tested lambda sensor
4. reset ECU
5. serviced the car
6. Replaced back to stock air box
7. Checked for vacuum leak (couldnt find one)

~When your cleaning the icv are you re staging it by turning the ignition on and off 6 times with 3 seconds between before starting?

Not 6 times but i done it 3 times then started it. took a while to start 1st time, then was ok to start after.

when i got my lambda sensor tested, the guy said the voltage is fluctuating alot. is it meant too?

3 times wont do it. Its 6 times for a reason. Also The voltage from the lambda should alternate from 0.2v to 0.8v every second to be working correctly.

ok thanks mate. i will clean it again tomorrow and do it 6 times. Also the hose that the ICV goes into is filthy with black stuff too, so can i spray carb cleaner in there too?

Remove it and get the jet washer down there. with some fairy. Can clean all hoses once off the car just make sure they are dry before re fitting. There is also the possibility that your icv is fucked and might need a new one so cleaning wont always work.
