Looking at these for a daily but mainly for a load lugger for all the fishing gear I use or the kayaks I use.

I vaguely remember driving one about 4yrs ago but the ride and build has escaped me.

Anyone know much about them, MPG, reliability, issues.

Im guessing they are £400 tax there abouts ???

Cheers

Really really like these. Stupidly comfortable on the road. You thinking about the current model or the older model?

The current models are far to nice to use as a work horse :(

My friend had one of the old ones, was an absolute bag of shit reliability wise.

It actually did go through two engines in a year (although I think part of that was down to the garage fucking up the first conversion)

Was a right pain in the arse for him, dunno if he just bought a shed or they're commonly unreliable

to be honest i don't know why i really wanted one, would have been shit for work thinking about it. Glad i went down the sensible option and got a van to be honest!

Bloody hell, just been reading ^^^that link and links of that.

25mpg if driven well and slow, that is disgusting, puts me off straight away.

Heads cracking and bottom ends going, on a 20k vehicle - jesus what is it made of, cheese.

OK lads, thanks for the input, saved me wasting time and money.

Look nice though

We've had 2 Nissan Navara's, the first was a 2002 crew cab, did in excess of 200k and then the timing belt went (had a rebuld) and we sold it for a Discovery3 (brand new) had nothing but trouble with suspension locking itself in the "lower" position and the back right valve letting all the air out of the tyre.

Then we had a 2008 Navara Crew Cab, never had an issue :y:

we ran a fleet of them in libya through some pretty shitty terrain for a couple years, never had any issues with head gaskets/ death rattle or any engines let go. transfer boxes are chain driven and they stretch through regular use, not an issue in the uk i would have thought. electrics dont last to long, EGR valves get clogged up and apparently this is what causes the engine to overheat (easy to blank off), gearboxes and clutches arent very strong, injectors and heater plugs dont last too long and they leak regularly from pretty much everywhere. i never had any issues with mine though

MPG is shit for what they are, around 20 mpg is average, the engines are piss weak for a 2.5 ton truck.

knowing all this i still bought one a couple years ago when there was a load of snow and proceeded to dick around with it, ended up with body/ suspension lift, winch, snorkel etc etc heres a pic

compared to a hilux of similar age they are good value for money and they are much better than a navara

the latest shape are even more of a ballache, ran a couple fleets in europe and one in iraq, same issue with transfer boxes, vacuum engage diffs are a pain to diagnose issues, steering racks dont last, electrics are weak etc etc the DiD diesel engine is its strongest point

I find with these commercial style luxury pick up the suspension is stiff as hell to cope with the stuff it's supposed to lug. But when it's empty it's like being sieved. Or at least it is in the work navara. Lovely car but the ride is shocking unlaiden

I love our work navara, lugs shit loads of gear and is comfy as hell, even use it for weekends away to national parks.
Much better than the previous ute.

^ what he said, but make sure it's the older style one.

Warrior = crap if you expect it to go mildly off road or pull anything remotely like it's rated capacity. The back axles are piss weak on the older ones (don't know about the newest ones). My mate managed to snap an axle clean in two when he went green laning and he wasn't even abusing it. His freelander had been down the same route several times before. He also said that the ride "quality" was abysmal when unladen!

sorry but that must have been a one off and your mate cant drive for shit, i've put L200's through 100+ metre sand dunes, over dormant volcano's etc etc a decent driver will take them just as far as any other posh pickup
