Just wanted to know what people thought of EBC brakes. Are they any good? I am thinking of getting some as I need new discs and pads

as a performance pad they are poor in comparison but cheap. There are other brands which will give far better braking consistency. If you are just putting stuff on your 1.1 then just go for OEM. It will save you money.

So something from ECP would be better than EBC ultimax pads and standard discs?

what do you mean better? What are you expecting to happen?
Personally you would be better off spending your money on quality tyres if you are concerned about braking performance and stability.

Then just fit standard OEM. Suspension and tyres make more of a difference to braking distance than a pad compound change and some fancy looking discs.

EBC aren't bad, I personally prefer Mintex 1114 pads. Depends what you are doing with the car I guess. Is it a track car or just fast road?

If its the 1.1 as your profile states, then just leave it standard. You arent gonna get any real gains from upgrading parts.
Be better spending money on buying a better car to start with.

The Bilstein will be firmer than the standard 1.1 dampers. If you need to replace them they are a good buy.

If it's normal road use (as opposed to fast road) just fit standard spec replacement parts.

Bilstein are a premium quality brand. I'd definitely be happy with Bilstein dampers on any of my cars!
