is my airbag light broken

I have a 2001 saxo first - there doesn't appear to be an airbag warning light displayed when starting the car, is there something up?
Should all saxo's display the warning light on turning the ignition on or are there some that don't is my question.
any addvice?

Is the airbag module still there ? ie hasnt been took out due to a previous owners modifications ?
