Can I remove the Airbag control unit thing without upsetting the car? (stripping interior)

Just on with stripping all the unwanted stuff in my track car - the orange wires (2 of them, 1 to each of the front seats) lead to this control unit under the middle of the dashboard directly in front of the gear stick.. Can I remove it and snip the wires or will it mess stuff up big time?

Unplug the wires,then unbolt the airbag ecu mate job done.

Cheers guys all done now - just wasn't sure whether it could potentially upset the car/ECU etc. but stripped it out now. Gonna post up regarding re-routing the loom :)
