If a garage did the work & its knocking after the work then take the car back to them mate.

as stevo said, if a garage did the work theyre oblidged to take it back and re-do it or at least replace it if they've mucked up.

A mate of my dad done the work for me, he is a qualified mechanic but he is now on holiday. Does anyone have any idea what it could be?

Best bet is to jack it up and check everything over...

could be a loose wheel nut, lower ball joint, loose or badly fitted brake disc or a warped disc. Could be a few other things but those thing spring to mind

Its more of a knock knock knock, it does from 5mph until i stop.

sounds like loose wheel nut or wheel/discs haven't mated to properly as already said i would get it jacked up and checked asap could be very dangerous

Take the wheels off both sides and just check the discs are sat back properly, a friend of mine had this and one of his discs wouldn't sit right.
Make sure there's no obstructions on the hub, the bolts etc and try again.
If you're not very mechanically minded in the way of brakes, i'd take it to a garage to get them to at least give it a look, brakes aren't something you should risk not having right.
