hi there all, now i posted this a few weeks bk bt didn't really know much then and the thread kinda died out a bit. anyway.....
im after the best set of 4 tyres for vts alloys (195/45 R15)
I'm after:
1) around 15k of more miles of life in them - don't want super soft compound boots
2) very good wet and dry grip, responsiveness and stoppin distance
3) nothing that is too poor on economy or 2 noisy (not 2 fussed about the noise as long as its nt massively noticeable)
4) around £60-£80 per corner
i think some continental premium contacts came out on top from the last thread i put up bt since then i have looked online and have found these have quite high tread walls on them which can lead to them skidding when cornering.
anyway comment bk with any questions or thoughts on this, cheers :)

The continentals that you state are very good didnt find them to skid.
I thoroughly recommend Rainsport 2s which I would say fit all of your criteria.

Michelin pilot exalto
Probably the best tyre choice.
More than your budget but will out last 15k.

+1 for uniroyal rainsport 2s, never had any problems with them after 1 and half yeas of use. worth looking at the other brands if your budget is up to 80 a corner, continentals, goodyear f1 gsd3

I need a couple cheap tyres myself for a few months, the goodyear f1's were good over summer, but really didn't last long..
Might have a crack with these, reading reviews they seem popular and only £50 per tyre! :y:

where did you get yours fitted for £60 a corner?
camskill want £108 delivered for two
black circle want £129 delivered or £146 fitted
and i know a place in northamptonshire that fits 2 for £135
so at the moment im buying mine from camskill for £108, ill see how much the garage up the road from me wants to fit them if its more than £27 (>£135 in total) then ill just go to the garage i mentioned
but i want to know where you can get 2 fitted for £120! lol saying that the garage up the road from me may only charge a tenner to do it which in total would be £118 which will be a result!

thanks for the advice every1 - decided 2 go for the rainsport 2's. the Michelin's were just 2 expensive for me atm - over 100 quid a tyre + fitting and thats 2 close 2 the 500 quid mark for my liking.
hope these rainsport's live up 2 the hype - sick and tired of slipping across any road thats slightly damp atm lol

You wont be disappointed, I would say they are very much like Eagle F1 GSD3s but last hell of a lot longer and cost less.

For a road car, I've been very impressed recently with Yokohama S.Drive tyres. Wear seems pretty good, wet performance is excellent, price is good too. I paid 65 quid a corner for 195/45 R16 for my other half's Golf. Been on the car about 9,000 miles now and I'd say they'll probably do another 9k.

Toyo T1R's have to put them out there. They will last 15k if you don't go crazy. Rears will last a good 30-50k depending on setup and how you drive.

If I can find the receipt I'll even prove it to you. Also included new valves and disposable of the old tyres.
I suppose I bought 4, so they gave me a discount. Most places wanted £75 per tyre (bought as a group of 4). Kwik fit wanted around £90 a tyre haha.
I got them from Pit Stop, Bedford
http://www.pitstopbedford.co.uk/
Although I had to visit them a week later because the morons thought they could get away with not balancing the wheels.... Their boss found out the following weekend :clapping:

you don't have to prove it i wasn't saying i didn't believe you lol would cost me like £20 maybe a bit more to go there which would push my price up to £140 so i might as well just go to the place where i can get them fitted for £135
