Bean

For all bikers road or race what kit do you wear? Ie leathers, helmet, boots and gloves. Also any extra protection?! Add what bike you ride/ race too :)

Me personally I ride a pre injection 1999 Yamaha R1 tuned to 189 bhp it's a race bike not Road unfortunately! My kit consists of an all white arai rx7, RST pro series in white and red, my boots are alpinestars smx plus in white and red,my gloves are by a brand called rev it given to me by Karl Harris and finally I have some sort of Knox vertebrae back kidney an spleen protector.

Helmet http://www.araiamericas.com/helmets/rx-7_corsair.html

Nice! How do you find the RSTs? I think they're really good for saying the price!! Just a shame they're slightly thinner than other brands :/

With race season mostly being in the summer I keep nice and warm haha! Great ventilation though! Try wearing a big hoody over them on colder days! Works a treat!!

I would recommend wearing boots mate, even like work boots for now! Don't want your ankles re building anytime soon lol! Nice idea on daytonas! The higher range ones are redicilously expensive though!!

Got a set of full textiles from when I used to ride every day of the year.

Now I have an Arlen Ness 1 piece, AGV helmet (forget the model, not great but not bad) alpinestar SMX-3's I think my boots are and some kangaroo Berik gloves. My mate paid about £100 for the gloves, wore them twice then I bought them for £20 and they're brilliant. So much feel!

Also have a Hein Gericke back protector under my leathers and an EDZ base layer under suit and EDZ under gloves. Last but certainly not least, a good set if earplugs!

Ride a Husaberg FS650e in my profile picture. Absolutely love it!

Have always been a road rider but I think it's staying off the road next year and just gonna stick to the track. I've probably only rode it 8/9 times this year and paid over £500 just for insurance! I'd rather spend that money on trackdays and enjoy it more.

Hahah don't worry mate. Borrow my fathers ones atm. And the bike is in bits for restoration so not on the road till next year. And a good quality set of boots are on the list before the bike goes back on the road.

Funny you say ear plugs I can't ride wearing them! Make my sense of balance go all weird haha! I just put up wit the wind noise, the arai does a good job of reducing the noise! Plus the track is 100X safer, controlled and fun haha

I never used to bother, then went to headphones but ended up filtering through some V festival traffic with a good song on. I was on my old Husaberg (this is my second) slowing down for the really tight gaps then clutching it up between the cars. Looked down at one point and I was doing over 80 with about a foot each side. Not listened to music in the bike since.

Can't stand not wearing ear plugs now though. It makes me much more aware as although everything's quieter you can concentrate on what you need to concentrate on. Plus the Husaberg is stupid loud and my ears ring with plugs in haha!

Just try it for a week and if you can get used to it you'll most likely become a safer, smoother and quicker rider because of it. Still hear sirens and stuff. Infact you still hear everything but it just takes the harshness out. I can still have a conversation with someone else wearing a helmet. I really can't stand riding without them now.

Luckily the R1 doesn't drone or hurt my ears, prior to that I raced a RS125 never had any noise trouble with the wasp haha, I guess I'm just so used to not wearing them it becomes alien trying to use them

189brake on a Pre-injection? Not sure if srs.
The fuck has it had done? Just curious :D

Got an R1 in the garage we built for Chirs palmer to run in the TT.
Thats rated at 206bhp atc.
Now in road trim and its ridiculous too ride.

Anyway,

Leathers are 'Manx Leathers' Made to fit malarky in team colours.
Arai Rx7 lid.
Alpinestar SMX boots
Alpinestar GP Pro gloves.

Race with a Kidney and back protector in, too much of a ball ache to use on the road though. Tend to just wear MX gear on the road with padding underneath.

Ride a 600RR and a KTM SMR on the road.

Yeah my dad can't take to them either. He's spent 30 years riding without (rode everyday until the last year or so) so now can't get used to them. I'd only been riding a few years when I first wore them.

I might give them a go on my bigger bike (Whenever that may be)
But I don't really travel far or fast on my 125, in fact I avoid duel carriageways.
So wind noise might be more of a factor when covering further distance at speeds above 60 :homme:

Ahh sound. Wasn't doubting at all, was just curious! Could have run it in the Endurance race over here, it'd have done pretty decent with someone half good steering it.
A lad I work with rode a bog standard Pre injection R1 in it, and came 4th overall in the Pre Injection, steelie, 1000 class! Only to have Conor Cummins and the rest ahead of him.

Don't suppose you do Darley Moor at all do you? Considering you're only in Derby?
