What should I buy, and why?

The only one I'm not keen on is the Playbook as the BB OS looks a bit naff and apps are limited.

Don't mind if its a 7" or bigger screen.

Hit me...

The Kindle Fire ticked all the boxes for me, it is cheap and the Amazon marketplace has thousands upon thousands of apps, tbh as long as they can watch films, play music and play angry birds I don't think they will be bothered.

not an apple fanboy but it has to be the ipad.

i work at a currys/pc world megastore and see more of the other tablets brought back for faults or general performance issues (mainly archos, blackberry tab, samsung galaxy and asus nexus).

never has anyone brought an ipad back and said its too slow or it wont do this or that.

yes theres free apps for android, but as its open source, anybody can create apps and upload to android market and these are not regulated, whereas apple verifies each and every app that is made and they decide if its worthy of being on the app store.

then theres jailbreaking......:y:

Then there's the price.....

I was almost set on an iPad mini when I thought they were going to pitch it at £199-229, then the shock came last night. No offence Apple, but I'm not prepared to pay £100+ more for your premium "image"

Wife has an iPad 2 which I picked up for £319 so for the difference in price I may as well get a full on 2, but that takes me even further over budget

Sub £200, I stopped reading after your first line.

oops, didnt read the title properly.

in that case, blackberry tab has come right down to £129 but unless you use another blackberry device then android woul be better.
ain issues blackberry tab get returned for are charging issues.
if you let the battery drain compleely, the tab has a habbit of stopping detecting that the charger is plugged in and wont charge, so has to go back to blackberry for repair.
the charging port is really flimsy aswell and can be damaged easily.

seen a few samsungs come back for charging issues but this was either down to the charger itself or the tab.

archos tabs are just not upto spec to do what they were made for, asus nexus seen 2 come back that just wouldnt turn on at all.

these are my own opinions based on experience and not those of dsgi :y:

I would say your options are the Kindle Fire (Possibly HD) or Google Nexus 7.

BB are soon to be obsolete and any of the cheaper ones will be shit.

I've had an iPad 2 for over a year now, I loved it.
Last month i bought a nexus 7' for my dads Birthday and to be honest, I actually rate it better than the iPad.
It seems faster, but it is a quad core, as opposed to dual in the iPad.
I also prefer the android software.
Dont give your money to apple, get a nexus.

What about a pay monthly contract? My IPad 3 costs me £25 a month with no initial payment. You pay more in the long run but with spread payments you dont really notice.

I'd rather just buy something outright tbh. 200 quid now or 500 over 2 years

I was also looking at the iPad mini for my daughter for Christmas until they announced the. Price!!!

Now I'm swaying towards the nexus 7, depending on what you believe and where you read the price of these may come down slightly further before christmas
