I got no sillencers apart from the backbox wich is a SS Magnum, but i would like to replace it with a 50 mm race pipe from Kam Racing so i was wondering if the noise could be a problem,in this case i think it's needed atleast the mid silencer.

82db is the road legal limit.
Ok,but that limit is calculated when the car is steady or at a certain number of rpm?

It's down to the policeman/mot tester to decide if its overly loud, not set in stone iirc. Can imagine lambos are over 98db

basically they cant do you
if they want to..they have to take you to a proper testing centre..roadside tests can be influenced by other things..mainly traffic and echoes from walls near by
if you ever get a ticket by the road side..ask to take it to court..itll get dropped

Reminds me of the time I had to give it some beans to get up a hill....
Car behind got pulled by the police right away. I think they thought they were the noisy one haha.

My cousin's Supercharged 350Z was recorded as 129DB when he was at the 'ring last month, he uses it on the road here, never been pulled up on it.
Even on idle it makes my ears bleed. Engine note is lovely though.

Yeah when you're young it's all fun. My old GTO was also very loud, sitting at 70 on the motorway was like standing in a club right next to the sound system. Headaches after a commute were guarranteed.

i still love the sound of it now tbf..was unique sound for a saxo...was just daft loud
cammed vtr with a 4-2-1 (pretty sure miltek so smaller bore) old style supersprint 1 piece race tube) and piper 4" jap can
rallye inlet and green filter
was loud but sounded nice lol
(just far too loud) never seen another saxo that sounded the same as with that combination..tried most of the original stuff on a 98bhp and it sounded horrible lol

I'm thinking about running straight pipes on my rb25 when it goes in, no cats, no silencers, nothing. Videos of them on YouTube sound awesome

from what i got with my old exhaust on the vtt..and the current..i want my new one to be a straight pipe
already designed it..from the downpipe it should only have 1 45 ish degree bend and help the flow massivley (ditch centre box and back box)
its gonna be loud..but i only used it for weekend fun..so think i can deal with it lol :homme:

I remember years ago getting stopped by police in a rally car cos they reckoned my exhaust was too noisy, pulled out the form from rally scrutineering a few days before with nosie report on it and asked if they had a meter that could prove it wrong. they skulked off into the night.
This is interesting, hope your tyres are quiet...Noise limits on tyres
There are noise limits on tyres and from November 2012 all new tyres will be graded and labelled to show how noisy they are.https://www.gov.uk/noise-pollution-road-train-plane/vehicle-noise-limits

What does it mean in that link when it says "type approved" exhaust?
