i have a mk1 vtr, occasionally when i put the key in to start it, the engine winds over and a light flashes on the dash, and i have to remove key leave a second then try again and it fires up straight away no problem, but its been happening a lot more recently, was thinking it could be an immobiliser fault, is this a common problem? :panic:

Hi,
It could be a problem with the sender unit in the key casing not lining up correctly with the receiver unit in the ignition barrel. Quite a common fault, I believe. It simply means the immobiliser won't deactivate until the two units are lined up right.
