runs fine then runs slow

Hiya lately ma saxo vts as had a problem, she runs fine then next min runs slow REALLY slow? when i turn it on then on its perfect agen but the engine light flashes at me then stops flashing.


i fot it could of been the coil pack on way out but am no sure any one eles had this problem with them?

sounds similar to what my vtr does. one day it runs well and as quick as i expect it to go. then the next day i give it some death and it seems to have no powerr. my EML light doesnt come up thou :)

When it runs slow does it backfire and miss struggleing to rev? I'm not sure if vts have a limp mode but if knocking the ignition off and on fixes it for a short time it would lead me to believe it does

Vts does have a limp mode,but I wouldn`t have thought on/off with the ignition would do anything.It sounds like a coil pack breaking down(often do this when hot)then when they`ve cooled they work again.

Yea but knocking ignition on and off certainly wouldn't fix that I had a golf that used to throw itself into limp mode and a red top vauxfail corsa and both of those dropped out of limp mode if I knocked ignition on and off and they need to detail the problem more coilpaxk breaking down would make the car spluttery and run like there's a brick in the engine limp mode would just be a serious lack of power

it runs pefect then runs like a old granny, no power, it normal does it when i go slow ie some traffic but also does it randumly as well only once in a blue moon.

Is the cat blocked and what is the condition of the coilpacks? When it goes slow does it sound like its misfiring?

May be worth checking them as my VTS used to have intermittent issues with them and it's a common thing.

Sounds odd that turning off and back on the car seems to resolve it for a short while though.
