yes but most GTI's can't have dump valves fitted anyway. It's only turbo'sthat require dump valves. They release the pressure from the turbo or something when you change gear which gives you the "woooosh" sound.

Most GTI's aren't turbo's so you can't fit one. If you want a dump valve no a NA engine then you will have to have a turbo conversion.

I'd consult some turbo specialists about whether your engine is worth converting. If you have under 1600CC's then i doubt it is worth the effort. Might be better to get an engine conversion for an engine that is designed to take a turbo. Will also be more reliable.

What car/engine do you have?

a dump valve is designed to let off excess boost when the throttle is closed. This stops the turbo from stalling and allows it to spool more quickly.

Most GTI's on the road dont have a turbo and as such dont require a dumpvalve.

Though you can buy a fake dump valve that uses a sensor on your clutch to release a "tisch" sound. But if you buy one of these i may never talk to you againsmileys/smiley17.gif

We get many people ask for dump/blow off valves as they want to make their car make a noise like a high boost turbo car. Firstly, these valves can only be fitted to turbo cars and cannot be fitted to any normally aspirated car and there is something wrong if they are needed for a supercharged engine. On all standard turbo cars they have what they call a waste gate to stop excess boost pressure, as if they did not, the engine would blow up due to too much pressure. The type of waste gate fitted to standard turbo cars do this by venting the excess exhaust pressure, not boost pressure, to reduce the speed of the turbo and so reduce boost pressure and with this type of system no blow off valve or noise is heard. The only systems where you have a blow off valve fitted is where for what ever reason the air pressure made by the turbo is in excess of what the engine is programmed to run on and the excess is vented to the atmosphere and so the noise heard. I am quite sure that many people fit them, not to safe guard the engine but just to make the noise to impress friends and to make it do so, loose power. If your engine has a standard turbo set up, the waste gate will regulate the boost pressure and so the only way you can make the dump valve operate is to set it to a pressure below normal, otherwise it would not work, the fact you are operating the dump valve means you are loosing boost pressure the engine normally operates with and so are down on standard power.

What size engine??
What engine??
Its a 1.0 Scandal - the limited edition, lol
But being 17 its dirt cheap on insurance.

So no i dont think it is worth fitting a turbo or anything, fiddlin with the engine and the insurance goes through the roof doesn't it.

Best leave it i think, lol

Thanks for the advice though - ill get a pick of my car up soon!

Top site by the way! - any chance of free sax-p.com stickers?? lol
