Last night a drunk driver hit my car and drove off. This caused me to hit a parked car. Basically my whole passenger wheel went bouncing off (Complete right off)

But since the drunken dick kept driving, and i didnt get his reg. I am libale for crashing in to the parked car. I dont know what to do.

So more experience people on this forum may be able to help.
a friend of mine said if i go threw the Motor Insurance Bureau, I may not loose my no 3 years no claims and have to pay the excess.

Anyone here had this experience and what was the out come?

Ross

You need to call the police first the police and report it. Second you need to inform your insurance.

Without the reg number of the car there is little you can do and will be up to you if you want to claim or not. Unless you have no claims bonus protection you will lose it as there is no other party to admit fault.

Post policies you need 4 or 5 years Ncb before you can protect them

trace back the journey the drunk driver may have taken before he got to you, you may find a traffic camera, or SOMETHING!

Better still put the name of the road on here and the direction he was travelling and let the crowd help you :)

How did you know he was drunk?

I would imagine the police know the local area well, if the car sustained damage and is a black ford it shouldn't take 2 minutes for them to track it down.

Edit: There is a pub/inn at the east end of the road, have you checked to see he has cctv of the roundabout which would have been used to enter/exit the road? He could have even came from there lol.

only a very small pub that cyne, highly doubt he has cctv however if he came horsforth way he will have passed shell and if he came hawky way he will have had to pass 1 of 2 co-ops not a very good estate so thwre will be 100% cxtv but my bet is he came from horsforth, thus passed shell...

Advertise it on your local gumtree & state the car, when the crash took place & what part of his car will be damaged.
You never know, you may get a garage or a neighbor contacting you with an address to go & have a look at the car.

Ive called the Shell and Woodside put (which is on the main roundabout0 hopefully. Funny thing was that the car i crashed in to (the parked one) only had a punched tyre. He was insistent in going threw the insurance, could have cost £60 for a new tyre, job done. but no dick

Shit situation that.

Don't worry about your NCB, it doesn't do as much for insurance as people think

How do you know you were hit by a drunk driver?

Other than that, I don't have a clue how you'd go about sorting it! what did the police say?

Where are you getting that from?

I have 5 years NCB and my insurance is a fair amount cheaper because of it.

In fact, it doubles without the NCB.

If you are 30+, I would suspect that NCB has a lesser impact than if you are say 21-25.

Think about it, you are 21 with 4 years NCB and trying to insure a VTS.....are you telling me that the price without the NCB will not be much different?

Getting it from my own experience. saying I have X amount of NCB dropped my price by £15...

that experience also stemmed from the age of 20 / 21, which you've mentioned. :)

i drove passed today mate and had a good luck, the shell has the ring road covered quite clearly and so does the woodside.

i hope for your sake it was horsforth direction he came from!!

have you tried to explain and reason with the car you hit? if it is just a tyre i would offer him a new one plus fitting etc..

claim against you will cost you more than that in the long run.
