so my mk1 vtr is on 112k, serviced a couple of thousand miles ago, including plugs. i t has been running so slow lately, no difference at all between it and my mates 1.4 106. i thought it was my cone filter, so i put it all back to standard,a nd seen a tiny gain in the higher revs, but it is still shit. any ideas what could be wrong? so tempted to just go with a new engine :wall:

Could try clean up a few sensors

what sort of sensors should i clean up? also i noticed the cone helped it pick up up to 3k, would it be work mounting the cone filter in the standard airbox to get cold air? not sure what to do

how does it drive/feel normally when your not caning it against your mate?

is the 1.4 standard? as there is only 15 bhp between them and being a 112k engine its probably more like 10bhp lol.

+ the 106 will be lighter, so probably a similar bhp/tonne :y:

Compression test it. A VTR in good nick should pull away from a cooking model 1.4

his 1.4 has is standard apart from an aweful exhaust he put on (just replaced all silencers with straight pipe lol) & a filter. and when im not caning it it feels crap with standard airbox, but good with cone up to 3k, was just shit above 3k with cone, thought could be becaus of heat? i seem to be able to choose between eithe rgood bottom end revs or good top end revs depending on what filter set up i have haha, was thinking of trying cone filter in the airbox?

quickly checked over a few sensors, all seem to be clean an ok, have came up with a new air filter plan im putting to test though, so will see how that is later on :)
