Finally got the VTS gearbox fitted (originally vtr) yesterday and reconnected all the earths, sensors etc. the dash lights up when ignition is turned on but the starter doesn't turn. We found this earth hanging around near the battery and can't remember where it connects to. Tried bolting it to the shell and starting = nothing, tried bolting it to the engine = didn't work either..
Any ideas?

we did think that but it's so short it doesn't reach the gearbox?

I've found this picture of my old gearbox which might help.
If you look at the arm in the top (where the top linkage goes to) Just to the left of it there is a stud and nut with an extra nut not fully wound on. Earthed there.
On the gearboxes i've had before that, was the same place but it was a bolt.

Yeah there was an earth on there we removed and then re-fitted yesterday but in hindsight and with the help of your picture I've just remembered there were 2 ring terminals on there..
Thanks a lot for your help guys! I'll go try it now and report back :D

connected the earth to the gearbox where it should be, it does fit I was just being an arse..
Now the starter motor isn't turning over, it clicks but won't turn. Battery has been on charge all night..
