Hi all,
Feeling a little rant now after I heard how my friend got on in court, after driving drunk, crashing into a parked jag and writing both cars off.

All she got was a fine, no more than £200.
And the choice of an awareness course...

I got done a few years ago for no insurance (just a mistake not seriously driving around knowing im not insured. I payed a fortune to insure my car. I am honest and would never knowingly break the law like that.)
Got analy raped, 6 points (licence revocation) £300 fine had to retake theory and test, insurance is unaffordable. I've not been able to drive since it happened because of how severe the punishment was, which means I cant work as an electrician any more. I have to have a supermarket job till' the points go.

What are your thoughts?:fcuk:

I had a similar experience after my insurer sent me my cover note and did not take the money out if my account, I of course didn't check this and got pulled at 2am one night they admitted liability over the phone to me but wouldn't admit that to the police, cost me a fortune in solicitor fees after I took them to court but I didn't get charged! They were found guilty of breech of contract and forced to back date my insurance to when the incident took place also got 500 quid compensation but it was still slot of fcking about, that was Quinn direct by the way... she clearly sucked the judge off for a lesser sentence. I'm pretty sure any drink driving offence ends with a loss of license.

Do you know for sure that's what she got?

I've never heard of drink driving not being a ban. Unless she didn't blow a high enough reading at the station but they still did her for smashing the cars? Either that or she's lying and will continue to drive without a licence or insurance but doesn't want people to know.

I think having to declare drink driving to insurance for 5 years / stays on license for 10 years is plenty.

you wont when you have a couple mates been killed due to it

this is exactly why people dont care about doing it

The person responsible for killing pedestrians would clearly get a harsher deserved penalty.

For someone who got nailed for drink driving the morning after not intentional, or having to drive because their health/well being was in danger.. 5 years of almost doubled insurance and 10 years effect on applying for jobs is clearly enough.

Drink drivings a instant ban. for this reason. I think shes talking shit

She's either talking complete and utter shit and she's lost her license, or she blew under the legal limit and she got done for driving without due care and attention instead

I also think it is bull shit.

And in my opinion if you get caught for drink driving the police bloke should be able to smash you in the face with his foot.

No excuse saying I didn't realise or I was still drunk from last night. If you are grown up enough to drink then you are grown up enough to face reality and know you are still drunk from the night before.

I personally have seen what drink driving and drug driving can do and there is simply no excuse at all.

Mate of mine was caught over the limit, i was in the car with him at the time.

Fair play he was banned for year, no excuse for that.

drink driving is a mandatory ban - no exceptions.

Who needs enemies when you have friends like the OP wishing you got shafted by the justice system...

She got what she got, maybe it isn't the punishment she deserved but why wine like a little bitch because you got dealt a shit hand when you drove around uninsured...

No excuse for driving uninsured imo, you should check the post and read your renewal...

I practice by playing a trumpet with my left hand, whilst rocking 2 chinese worry balls in the other hand!
