I have just found out that both sides drive shafts are on the way out and need replacing, anybody got any idea's how much it would cost, bearing in mind that the car is 12 years old and only worth around £150, so don't really want to spend a fortune, just had a new clutch fitted as well.

Cost you around 50-70 from a decent motor factors. could always buy cheap £30 off egay, but thats entirely up to you. mostly false economy as there probably prone to screwing up again quicker.
Who said they were on the way out? Reason i ask cause if they meant the gaiters are worn, then you can buy gaiter replacement kits which would a lot cheaper.

Really bad clonking whenever I go around a corner or up a hill, seems to be in time to the wheels going round. The garage that did the clutch (Mr Clutch) said that the drive shafts where bad particularly drivers side and were liable to go an moment.
To be honest the clonking has been happening for some time but thought it was all connected to the clutch problem.

If it does what does that signify? Do I try it both ways?

If garage has said the shafts are on way out and its making a clicking nouse under load it sounds most definately like the cv joint / boot I replaced my driveshafts rather than replacing the boots
does the clicking only occure when your turning a certain way as that would indicate which driveshaft was gone if it does it both ways or all the time then they both need doing

Slight Clunk (knocking) when turning right but much more when turning left, and louder.
Tried the car park thing on full lock either way and once on full lock no knocking at all but as I am completing the turning onto full lock on the left side there is a loud knocking.
Do you think its the complete drive shafts that are going and need replacement or just some of the components. I really don't want to pay another £300 if its not needed
