So just discovered this fecker casually leaning against the gearbox - it sparked like a good'un - it goes straight into the live terminal on the battery. I think it goes to the starter motor but can't get my head around why this would stop the fuel injection from priming?

Starter motor mate, then check the fuel pump relay which hides under/near the ecu

Starter motor mate, then check the fuel pump relay which hides under/near the ecu
cheers dude - stuck it on the starter motor and the engine now turns over, the fuel injection primed about 4-5 times, then on the 6th time it stopped priming..
So now it turns over (really strong on jump leads) but won't start as if there's no fuel getting through.

when you turn ignition on does the pump prime for about 3 to 5 seconds then go off?
if yes, and car turns over, then check for spark, and that the car has fuel in
if not, then check the relay under the ecu when you turn the ignition on you'll hear it click, if you hold it in your hand you'll feel it click on the left and the right side as there are 2 relays if its doing this, then again check spark and fuel
if not then its the relay, ive got a couple of good spares

Is there spark? could be crank sensor

legend K567 thank you so much. My mate kev (the engineering 'practical bastard' as we call him) told me to check for spark. He's adamant it's the spark, but I'm 99% certain the fuel isn't getting through.
Once I reconnected the starter motor live it did prime the first 3-4 times of turning the ignition on (for quite a lot longer than it used to 2 weeks ago, used to be 2-3 seconds at worst; tonight it was like 5-8 seconds). Then on the 5th or 6th time turning the ignition on it didn't prime at all.
I'm working away tomorrow til thursday so will be next weekend before I can get at it. I'll check the relay in the morning and give you a shout buddy :)
