Hey up,

Got myself a 12 plate Ibiza FR in July. Bought it brand new from Hobin at Preston with just 8 miles on the clock!

It's the facelift version and I got the optional extra 17" alloys added on for no extra charge!

Was sick of fixing my Saxo and after putting in 2 gearboxes, a brand new rear axle, countless driveshafts, new clutch, and the rest I thought that it was time I bit the bullet and bought a brand new car. No hassle, no worries.

Bought it on finance with a deposit of just £200.

I did look at the Cupra and the Bocanegra, but they were out of my price range on both insurance and finance, so settled for this little 1.2 Turbo beauty.

Got it with a LifeShine guarantee, 2 years breakdown cover, 3 years warranty and 3 years free servicing.

Got some pictures that I took today after its winter wash.

Rinsed, shampoo'd, rinsed, polished, waxed, rinsed, dried.

Wheels were cleaned with Bilberry, which smells awesome!

Ah, nice mate, link to thread if you have one?

Yeah I know what you mean, so nice to have no worries about fixing it... If it goes wrong, they fix it!

Lovely car, interior is a little disappointing though. Lots of plastic and not much design as such.

Still beats my 24yr old block of plastic!

Yeah, I admit that the interior isn't the best, but it's subtle and just nice.. If that makes sense? Lol.

Bet the sales guy showed the picture of a white cupra that got crashed through a few fences and ended up in a conservatory?

He has it on his desk lol.

Welcome back :p

Good choice with the Ibiza, enjoyed mine aswel since I ditched the Saxo and got one. I'll be trading mine in for a few one in 12 months, hoping they release the 'R' as is rumoured

Haha.

Can imagine him saying 'don't do this to it' to everyone.

Good choice of car! Always wondered what engine the FR's had in them. What mpg you getting?

Very nice mate, I'm getting a boc next month. What's your thoughts on the interior quality?

Edit: just seen the posts on the interior.

Really like these. Trying to persuade the misses to get rid of her Mini for one of these but a diesel version.
Only thing I'm not too fussed on is the dash but that's if I'm being really really picky!
Hope you get along with it well

Thanks for the comments guys.

The FR is just a 1.2 turbo. Depending on how heavy my right foot is, I can get anything up to 50MPG or as little as about 12MPG.

As for the Boc mate, I'd be very careful. My mate has had one for a few months and had nothing but problems with it. They eat oil and the engines are awful.

His Boc has been back to the garage about 4 times and they are having to take the whole engine apart to see what the problem is.

I'm guessing he's just been unlucky with that, but I'd still be cautious :y:

The interior on the Boc is pretty much the same, except the cover over the dials is a carbon fibre effect, the seats have more red stitching and a 'B' in both headrests.
The door cards on them are plastic compared to mine which are cloth.

Oh and you will have climate control on yours which will be situated beneath the heater / air con settings.

Had a few issues with mine aswel which I'd had from new (Cupra) it had a new ECU after just 1k miles (took 3 weeks for a replacement to come from Spain!) and a new fuel pump at 15k miles due to old one completely packing up

Having said that I've still loved it and I would definitely have another from new. The DSG is spot on (wouldn't fancy any potential repair costs out of warranty though)

It does drink oil though that's for sure, I probably put in a litre every other month!

Climate control dash does look a little more up to date, pre facelift models look like this so assuming there's been no change from it?

No change matey :)

Aye, they love oil they do. Luckily mine doesn't drink it lol.

I love the DSG. One thing I wish I got on mine, but like I said, it was too expensive for me.

Haha Baz, coz I'm just awesome ;)

Just planning on doing the alloys black and lowering about 40mm.

Nothing major :)

My bro has one of these, not sure why they decided to label it as an fr as the performance is disappointing.

Fr on previous cars/models indicated performance, not just a styling pack etc.

Performance on a 1.2 turbo, 105BHP car isn't ever going to be fantastic.

Nothing a remap can't handle though ;)

Still faster than my VTR though, so happy with that.

Cheers Tom mate! Getting black alloys next year ;)

onto a winner then mate! it's smart as it is, doesn't need lowering or anything. don't ruin it!

What is the performance like (0-60 and handling?) I had to look twice when I read 1.2 TURBO.

0-60 is 9.9 seconds IIRC, so not massively slow at all.

Handling is very good, very little body roll and the traction control really helps when I stick the car into a tight corner :)

Nothing at the moment really mate. Not had much money with it being Xmas and that.

I have just ordered a DPM panel filter though, so just gotta wait for that to arrive!

Sounds good, I bought a bocanegra in the end and they're pretty solid cars to be fair. Do you know what sort of lowering kit you're going for yet?

Yeah, they're solid enough, just watch the oil ;)

Not sure on lowering kit yet mate!

Should sound nice with that on it, my mate has one of these exactly the same as yours I keep telling him to mod it but he doesn't want to touch it, he's put a nice sound system in it though, never been out in it but he said it's fast enough.
His old Cupra was quick though, destroyed my Mini when we had a bit play and that's not a slow car

Ouch, I bought mine as a second owner so it's covered 26000 miles but still no problems.

You planning any ice/interior upgrades, or you keeping standard?

You might have got one of the good ones then ;)

Urm nothing yet mate, want it lowered, sprayed alloys and tinted rear windows first.

Yeah man, hope so!

They're only a little 1.2 with a small turbo, but they don't half shift :)

The Cupra's are rapid!

Nice, are you going for coilovers or springs? dpmperformance.co.uk seem to be the best for suspension bits. I'm probably just going to get some springs for mine until I know whether I want airride or not.

Wouldn't that go against the finance agreement? Thought they usually stopped people from modding a car when bought on finance?

How are you getting on with this Moke? Still enjoying it?

I've been to Seat yesterday and have swapped my Cupra in early for a tactical change. Had my fun and am now wanting something a little more practical and cheaper to run

Ended up ordering the Ibiza 5 door FR with the 105ps Diesel engine. (Was determined to go for the FR pack to maintain some dignity)

Yeah, do still love the car tbh. I've put on a BMC air filter, so that gives the engine a bit more of a grunt and I do still enjoy driving it :)

Haha, the FR pack is fairly impressive really mate.. Especially if you compare it to the standard SC or something.

Mine is the 105, too, but petrol :)
