hi all, i just bought my first saxo today. its a gold 1.4 furio racing edition.
i got it for £550 pounds. its a good little car but needs a little tidying up.
that doesn't bother me though because its lots of fun, and its good on fuel, and just what i need at the minute.
looking forward to my stay here.

Not heard of this one before, might be a rare one like the 'Tour De Course' version (apologies if spelt incorrectly)

Its a gold furio with bonet stripes and painted gold vts wheels...

RacingSaxo
12th November 2012, 23:43
ah no they arent gold wheels. its just dirty in the picture. the wheels are just normal grey/silver coloured. what wheels normally come on the furios? i thought these were just normal on this.
i am thinking of painting the wheels black though.

It was tidier until i hit a pheasant yesterday. it smashed half of the splitter off and cracked the bumper. while ive been looking for bumpers on ebay and the likes since i can look in the for sale section on here, ive noticed that none of them have a painted splitter. has mine just been painted to match the car?

Prickle
18th November 2012, 22:37
None are painted from factory so yes yours has been.

danny-vts
18th November 2012, 22:55
yours has been colour coded to the car.
to access the for sale section you need 100 non spam posts and a member for 30 days , or pay for premium and get instant access.

I fitted a cone filter today. got it from a friend. i dont know what it came off of but it was not a perfect fit. there was a rubber neck with it for different sizes of throttle necks. but i had to turn the neck round to fit on the throttle neck and the other end of the rubber things then didnt fit the filter. so we just gaffer taped it on. seems to work okay.
It has a nice sound to it now. how many break horse powers do you think it might of added? and is there anything else i can do on the cheap to get any more power from it.

you sound like you should be no where near a car. hope you have told your insurance about the filter mod?

as for bhp added.....0, nothing, zilch, diddly squat

haha is this kiddy joking or something? to be fair mate you've probably lost a few of your bhp's by putting a gaffer taped filter on to it so id say you now have around 70bhp. this is funny haha

well sorry guys. i am only 17 and dont know that much about engines and stuff. why will the filter make it less powerful? i will take a photo tomorrow so you can see how it is fitted. it isnt unsafe. it wont just fall off or anything.

Hey RacingSaxo dont worry, I have see the racing version of the furio before. In fact I nearly bought one a few years ago. Think they were built by a private company, you know somthing along the lines of Overfinch.

Enjoy your saxo! Much love

Well tbh that won't surprise many people. Considering you believed that your car was a version that never existed ha.

As for the filter. During ignition generally the colder and more dense the air is, which mixes with the fuel the bigger the bang, hence more power. With a filter like yours, you're sucking in the hot air from the engine bay/block which isn't as dense, which means you get less of bang, meaning less power or no gains. There's a reason the filter is feed from the front of the car. Simple as that. Get a decent panel filter with a good unrestricted air feed from the front of the car and you'll hear and notice a difference in some not all cases it seems.

Oh, yeah ok. that makes sense. i will put it the standard airbox back on for now then. thanks.

Some can. But in future, as you seem to of made a few mistakes already and have little knowledge. I'd consult with people on here first ha. Most are cunts lol and will give you some stick, but some do know what there talking about and will help you out, as they have me :y:

of course you do, if it's not standard, it has to be declared as a mod , same goes for your racing stripes.

Hi mate, welcome to the site.

Beneath the sarcasm what the good people are trying to tell you is that there is no Racing Editon Furio, it doesn't exist. No high lift cams, nothing. Furio has a single camshaft anyhow.

As mentioned most open cone air filters will not make you any power. There are few enclosed induction kits that are good but on a standard car a panal filter will do just fine.

Enjoy the site :)

Yeah sorry mate I came across a tad rude. if you ever need any advice or help on how to do anything most of the people are really helpful on here. welcome aboard. car looks tidy as well mate

I've only just joined this forum to buddy I go a 106 so I may get some stick;) but I'm up for giving advice, I can try help as much as I can, as for you come air filter basically what ever you do you ain't going to gain anything there pretty pointless little better for make your car pop with a decat but mine does it with standard and pop and spits flame :L but if you want to keep it on get a bit of ducting hose connect it to the end of the filter then feed the hose down to where the most cold air will hit.
