Basically been looking at these for a few days, haven't driven one yet, hoping to on thursday.
I have £7k to spend, but that has to include insurance (20, 2 years NCB, 2 and a half years driving)
I've found one with 66k on a 04 plate, part service history, full leather, air con etc.
It's going for a decent price and i'll have enough for insurance and still have cash left over.
Does anybody have any experience with these? anything to look out for?
Yes i know it's a diesel, so it's kinda like fingering your sister then finding your dads wedding ring, but they're pretty appealing to me, good MPG for the power. Looking at the Cupra TDI (150bhp model)

If the insurance is anything to go by, itll be less than 1k. Im sure the cupra's are sub 5k now as well. I had a fabia vrs (same engine) pd130.
The cupra pd160 engine are the same but have a FMIC and larger intake. Would be my diesel hatch back of choice and more than quick enough with a remap.

Well for me insurance on the 150 is £1.4k
the car im looking at is jst under £5k, hoping to get that down a bit as im taking someone with me who has worked on a couple before..
This one seems to be the only one i can find within a reasonable distance that has decent mileage and leather, so thats a bonus i guess.
Any common issues to look out for?

I really really like these. In the price range they are it's be what I would get if I was after a diesel!
Don't be too put off by mileage though. If its high its probably sat on a motorway most it's life with a nice warm engine sat at perfect revs in top gear. No stress on them at all.

Cupra TDi had the PD160, the FR TDi had the PD130.
The only good thing about them is they go like shit off a shovel and look decent-ish.
I would suggest test driving 1. The suspension is rock hard, and the interior is a bit dull and plasticy.
Can pick 1 up for around £4k now.

Actually forget that, im thinking of the Ibiza.
On another not, the PD150 is the same engine as whats in the Golf GT TDi 150.
The main issue with these is the camshaft lobes are common for wearing down, very common.

Hmm.
The interior in this one seem to be decent, has the leathers, slightly updated centre console etc.
Yeah I'm aware of the engine being the same as the Golf GT Tdi 150, Have a friend who has the Golf and he hasn't had many problems
Just to elaborate, I'm not spending 7k on the car itself, the car is costing me less than that, the 7k is including insurance and I'm stil going to have a decent amount left over.
Going to view one on thursday if they still have it, 66k miles, most of it's service history, most of the optional extras.
Got someone going with me who knows his way around most cars so shouldn't come away too bad.
Only thing i'm concerned about is it's not got any evidence of having the cambelt done.
Got a quote from a local VAG tuner and he's given me a quote of £280ish including cambelt, tensioner, water pump, coolant, labour and VAT, so hopefully I can manage to get at least that amount off of the asking price aswell.
