i waited for a house on my estate to re-carpet their living or dining room then offer to take the carpet for free... and re carpet my garage.
The terrible thing is, a house up the road has really expensive carpet put in it and they get flooded a week after. Their insurance paid for new carpets so as a result, the carpet in my garage is better than the carpet in my house (y)

The vinyl tiles I used in the back of my van have proven OK. Started life brand new
18 months down the line, with alsorts of crap in it, only the edges where I have fitted it badly are broken off, and there are some scratches

Came in 4 tile packets from B&Q - 1 tile being 4 small squares. Cost a bit though at £15 quid a packet. BUT if you know an OAP that has a B&Q card they get discount on tues / wednesdays I think.

Not the best quality but I've seen packs with 3 tiles in at poundland.

found place to get some vinyl, 3.99 per square metre, works out at bout 70 including delivery for area i want, when i first looked places wanted 7.99. thinking id rather have vinyl now i think, easier to clean if a car is on, cant decide though
jay how much coverage does one pack do? guessing m2?

Erm yeah, about 1m2. It's 16 small squares. Pretty good stuff, if I had fitted it better :homme:

why not go to a local carpet/flooring place
theyll chance to have a load of tiles theyve lifted from shop/business...get them for free, if theyre for the garage its all you need and will 95% be very clean and high qaulity

Recycling old carpet sounds like a great idea, however what are you going to do about putting the car in when its wet?

Get you some old ones from work if you want?
Granted, they're asbestos, but beggars can't be choosers...:A:
