I was all set for getting something like this at the beginning of the year. I test drove sereval barges and every one of them was mind numbingly shite. So I did the sensible thing and got a slightly older m3 :)

I'd have a Merc as a company car over a BMW or Audi any day of the week, i like them. I wouldn't part my own money with one though, purely cause i buy cars for the fun factor but everyones different.
Good cars, if he likes it then everyones happy.
I bet the insurance company are over the moon!

Gandi699
14th November 2012, 16:05
Its a nice car but its nothing you'd stop and look at, you see them everywhere. Which can be a good thing if you want to keep a low profile with your prolific drug dealing business at 23

Nik_L
14th November 2012, 16:07
If i seen a 23yr old driving that i would think they were a brand snob with as much taste as my grandad. Certainly wouldn't be impressed. Would be more confused as to why.

Take it he's got it on some sort of PCP deal?? Can't see why a 23 year old would buy something like this outright, so PCP seems the most logical explanation.

And if it is on finance then it may as well be a corsa or something lol. Makes me laugh when people go on about their cars like their loaded when its company/finance. I own all my vehicles yet I probably don't appear as wealthy as other people my age. Couldn't care less either way though :)

im not disputing that some people don't mind about a spec of a car, personally i dont either. The point i was making was aimed directly at jaxosaxo and that class means nothing to some, and just because something has class does not mean its good.
http://i1134.photobucket.com/albums/m620/Cameron_Harman

How is making a argument against some one's comment been a "badass" ? just because to you it came across in a certain tone ?:clapping:

and for the rest, i went from a punto abarth with plush leather seats, air con,all the bells and whistles to the saxo to me the saxo is far far more entertaining and "better" at what i want out of a car than the abarth was or a merc would be for that mater

my opinion, i dont mind if you dont agree

I had a mortgage and a car at 23 with no help from my folks, and I wasn't Donald Trumps PA or anything!

I suggest the majority of people stop blowing their wages on Blue WKD, Hubba Bubba, Saxos & £9.99 triple packs of euro jazz mags and start living in the real world!

We've all been in the situation to buy something like the OP so it's not really a fantastic feat, I'm surprised that the OP finds it so incredible, although looking at his other created threads I'm not surprised as they're all ridiculous.

I could buy 2 of them cars on my student debt, check me bitches.

Nail. Head.

How i hope to be by next year!

Alot of my mates spend £100 a weekend on drink and shit. I pocket it and spend it on other things.

At 23 I was close to £20k into my Renault 5. I ended up paying that off in one way or another until I was close to 30. Not smart.

Having a huge loan and blowing it on a car doesn't prove anything. If you've worked hard, saved hard, and then spent your savings though, fair play. Hat's off to him. :)

So have no social life and save forever?

You're only young once, I'd rather have a social life and good friends than an amazing car...

I live on my own and have a decent ish car and waste money at the weekends... wouldn't want to sacrifice time with my mates at this age...

Having a social life doesn't mean you have to blow all your money on pay day to buy some drinks in a club like most the clowns seem to do these days.

He said stop blowing their wage not stop having fun with your friends.

Where did he say that?

I misread him then, I agree don't spunk your wages up the wall... But I'm dreadful at saving unless its for something imparticular..

Enjoy yourself while your young imo... but live to your means!

Some people can afford to do both, some have to choose...

Not impressive at all. Hes just gone and bought a bog standard bottom spec merc trying to look flash.

At 23 I bought this:

The scoob only has 17k on it from new, Im reluctant to drive it!

But If youre smart with your money you can drive almost anything you want. I'll have an R8 before im 30, then settle for an audi tdi and a 3 bed semi. Once you approach 30, no car looks cool on your mums drive.

Decent looking car tbh, not sure what all the shit talking is about.

My priorities are personally different, maybe because I am not all that into cars any more. As long as I have a car I am fine, I wan't a house for my family more.

Maybe when I'm a bit older having a mid life crisis I'll get an expensive car.

Really? I think its ugly as fuck compared to the audi. But its 345bhp with about 4k of fast road mods done to it and 17k from new. I'd sell it for 2-3k more than i paid for it!

Mainly because his mates car is just not thread worthy...

Don't get me wrong it's a nice new car, but it's not like it's AMG spec or anything...

A lot of 23 year olds can drive cars similar/better spec than that...

The point of this thread was?

23 is not exactly young, plenty of people are earning decent salaries at that age.

Im only a few years older and earn enough to afford one of these cars if I wanted one.

e8_pqck

There is a big difference between ticking one off and actually affording it.

Most 23yo buying this kind of car will be up to the eye balls in debt if they bought one.

I'd be chuffed with one to be honest.
May not be the top of the range pussy reaping one, but its a Merc at the end of the day. I've been looking at more 'mature' (hah gay) cars quite alot.
S-Class' Saab's, A8's and such. Not exactly the average 20year olds cars, some laugh at the thought.. But I'd like to feel abit more civilised.. If it makes sense? rather than driving a piece of shit Civic and a Lifestyler Mx5 for the rest of my days.

But to define a person and age by what car they drive is a bit pointless as all walks of life are either poorer/richer or not bothered.

The biggest Willy waver is the OP who started this thread about how great his mates car is. It was only ever going to attract other wavers as they discuss their own experiences and opinions as that's what the forum is for.

Unlike most topics this has actually stayed on topic!

Fair play to him wanting to own a nice car, its impressive to a point, and its his money to do what he will however most of us would prefer to spend our cash on other things than just a car.

Definitely not the MLs

They're appallingly assembled, and have dire interiors

Oh and the paint finish on ALL of them is tragic, my mate works at the AMG performance centre, £105,995 for a new AMG black that needs wet sanding? Really!??

That's just a small engined derv merc. Nice comfy but slow, not sure why a young adult would choose that. Put your foot down and nothing happens apart from your fuel consumption going through the roof, so meh. Nice car but poverty spec / nothing special imo. That said, it's a sensible enough choice if you want to ride in comfort while building your no claims up.
