hi, how many bolts hold a saxo gearbox on, is it 4 for the mk1s and 3 for the mk2s? the reason is, i took the gearbox out of my mk1 vts, and i have put a gearbox from a mk2 vts on it, and 4 bolts were holding my old gearbox on, but i can only seem to put 3 back on as the 4th bolt which is just above the bottom gearbox mount will not go in, and i cant even poke a screwdriver in the hole, its like there is no hole, also i saw a guide on the internet about how to remove a gearbox and it only said there was 3 bolts, they didnt include the one that was just above the bottom mount, so im guessing his was a mk2 aswel?
any help would be appreciated, thank you

thanks for the reply, im also having the problem of there not being enough room for the gearbox linkages even though the gearbox is on its mounts and bolted to the engine, the ball joints are basically right up against the bulk head and i cant get it into first or second gear, you any idea what i could have done wrong? thanks mate

Make sure the box is in Neutral and the gear stick is in neutral an they should line up? Can you get it into other gears, ? Have you checked the starter motor wires are not in the way of the linkages, linkages been bent while pushing box in ? Did the gear box have 1st an 2nd working previously? Have you double checked all linkages are fitted correctly? Hope thi helps maybe abit more information will give me a better clue?

Yeah most likley is 4 bolts, like i said i cant remember, but 3 is as good as four, take your car a mechanic you will be lucky to get it back with 50% of the bolts still in, because 55% of the bolts are not nessaccery at all :) its just OTT on bolts man lool
