hello all , new bloke here, wondered if any of you good people can offer some advise on my sons saxo.
its a 2001 1,1 forte, i have had this bloody thing in my workshop for weeks now while we gave it bit of a spruce up and lo and behold when we fired it up (battery has been disconnected ) the tickover was up and down like a tarts drawers, after using some info about resetting etc (from this forum) it now ticks over lovely but if i try to rev it up above 3000rpm it seems as if the throttle is being limited (pulses). one thing i did notice was when i turn it off i can hear the idle control valve making a noise like racheting/stripped gear?.
getting a bit close to using the box of matches adjustment tool (lol)
many thanks

if its limiting itself to 3000rpm i would check the cranksensor as that usually does this when faulty :)

thanks for the replies, yes the management light is on. just out of curiosity ,if the crank sensor is u/s would it start? so in the same breath wouldnt the car cut out if the crank sensor was unplugged when the car was running?

Get it on a diagnostic mate as its gone into limp mode to prevent any damage being done

came home from work and plugged in my code reader which for some reason wouldnt work! and then decided to pull the crank sensor, upon removal it seems that someone has split the casing around the bolt hole which has made the magnet touch the flywheel, the result is a very nice ground out part of the face ,sooo i ordered one of those and will slap it in when it arrives. i will keep you guys informed either way and i am most grateful for your help
