As title says, looking to buy a tdci in March, how do people rate them? Any known issues? Positives/Negatives etc?
My reason for wanting one is as i do 350+miles a week, £30 tax and look very nice (for a diesel) in my opinion.
Just want to know as 4-5k is a lot of money to part with.

I had one as a company when I worked for Ford for a while. Is it mk7 or mk8? They use the same engines as the 207 hdi, and I know they suffer with the turbo oil feed pipe blocking up causing the turbo to go. They are a decent little car though.

Not to sure about them, from what I know from the dealership is that they seem to be a decent car, but I've never driven one.

The latest fiesta is a mk8, well I class it lol. The mk5 was the first zetec s they released, basically a facelift of the mk4. The st shape is the mk6/7 which I guess is the shape your after?
Edit: the mk7 is the latest shape

Injector seals go, Boost pipes go, the rear water pipe splits, and there use to be a fault on the water pump. Other than these issues they are a great little car.

I'm not up to knowledge with all of them.. Are they expensive jobs?

Will be a mk6... Good cars, not as reliable as it should be though. Don't handle all that amazingly.
Anyway, have you finally decided what car your going for yet? No z3?

The new Polo GTI looks great from every angle, pretty quick for a smaller hatch and very comfortable aswell as reliable. If I was after a small hatch I would certainly get one, I love them:

Yeah the newer shapes are nice but i'm going to struggle to afford the fiesta and the polos are a fair bit more arent they? 4k is going to be my budget I think for the fiesta.

Also the TDCI will be fairly cheap on insurance compared to a gti

As I said earlier they have serious injector seal problems it's around 250 to fix or £1.20 for the seals if you do it yourself it's not a hard job.

Does anyone know how much a remap is on one of these? Rumours of 'adding 25bhp, 45lb/ft torque and increasing fuel economy by up to 12%' which would be pretty nippy!

Probably around £150-£200 for one of those generic maps they slap straight on.

My mate has got one and hes just had to fork out for a new Turbo for his. Never realised they were a common issue.

Ouch, guessing that is fairly pricey!

My mate used to have one and he loved it.. Never had any of the issues that have been mentioned here though and he had it for at least 3 years iirc!
